Contest entry for 0dd-Eye 's design contest .

This took me sooo long, mainly because I could never find the time to pick up my tablet and draw the design digitally. At least that allowed me to explore a lot I guess, haha! I'm not 100% happy with the colours, but oh well, that'll do! Long paragraph of explanations incoming:

My main inspiration for this design came from steampunk fashion and from Omei's mount (which is a giant bird how freakin cool is that). I went for something light looking that would allow for a lot of movement, while still covering most of Omei's markings. I kept pieces of Omei's original design (like some of the bandages and the belt) and tried to stay within his colour scheme as much as possible. He carries a bag (top middle of the drawing) in which he can put his maps and other important things (food, water, pencils, a compass,..). Since the outfit isn't very warm looking, and given that Omei would obviously have to travel in cold places at some point (also because it's cute, fite me), I gave him a poncho as well (bottom middle of the drawing). I made the hat shorter, because I just couldn't imagine carrying a meter long of dangly fabric when walking all day. It helps with the aviator hat thing going on too! Speaking of aviation, Omei has some goggles to protect his eyes when flying on his bird mount. In the top right corner is a back view of Omei's belt and the pieces attached to it. Finally, I imagine the dreamcatcher (bottom right) is a gift from Nashter, given to protect Omei from nightmares. I have a similar necklace at home, so I thought "Hey, why not!". I zoomed it on it to show the details.
