You've commented on a lot of my work and it seemed only fitting that when I clicked on a random deviation only to find it was one of yours that I take the time to write a critique for you.
First of all, please don't take the starts here negatively, I think the point of the critique is to gain 'constructive' criticism and I will try to provide just that in a tactful way.
Lets start with a few areas I think could be improved upon. First and foremost, I wish the photo was a higher resolution so I could zoom in on the units (I'm sure your gallery has close ups of most of these anyway). Second, I think the armor in the back (your tanks, Contemptor, and aircraft) could use some battle damage. There are some really easy effects for achieving some awesome battle damage results that would really help to make those pop. In addition to the battle damage some decals on the vehicles would have given them that extra 'emph' as well so to speak, particularly on the white panels on the front of the tanks, in the center of the turret on the Predator, and perhaps on the knee pad(s)/legs of the Contemptor.
I like the basing but some foliage/flock, either dead grass or grass in general, would have really given those a little bit more of an edge as well and it would have been a nice contrast to the blue armor. For your plasmaa weapons some dry brushing to give the illusion of a 'glow' would have been pretty awesome, however based on the weapon on your Contemptor I think you could replicate that technique and achieve similar results.
Now lets move on to what I like. I think the best piece here is the Contemptor, was he the most recent additional? The paint looks like it was applied more smoothly and he overall looks really solid. Additionally, the mud/dirt on the side of the tanks and the Contemptor's legs turned out pretty well too (which is why the lack of battle damage was so sad because in my opinion applying the dusty look is harder than the battle damage). I like the use of white with the blue on the armor, really breaks up the miniatures and helps them pop (the same reason my tanks do the same thing if you've seen them).
I really like your Jump Pack Captain, this was a really nice attempt at creating something unique for your force and the base looks pretty good too.
I marked you high for Vision because I felt you had a pretty good idea of what you were aiming for. I knocked a bit on Originality simply because they are Ultramarines (which I love but it is a common paint scheme, that said though the use of white that I mentioned before was a nice way to change things up). I scored the army above average on Technique as well because I can see the effort that was put into the army, you clearly have tried and I think you'll continue to improve. Finally Impact, I think with a few alterations/improvements your army would be even more striking but I want to re-iterate I think you've done a great job thus far.
If I was to sum up a few things to consider right here at the end it would be the following:
-weathering/battle damage
-decals (use a clear coat first, use a decal setting solution, and then matte varnish over them to give them a 'painted on' look)
-oil washes (there are some awesome sources on YouTube for this and I think if you learned the process you could really make the army pop by having rich dark depth to the plates)
I hope this did not come across negatively or condescending and I hope the critique helps you to continue improving in the future.

Thank you a lot for that critique! No need to excuse, this is the exact way to use the critique function
As you guessed, there are detail shots of all Squads and units. you can also see, this update is fairly old. This one here is a quite new update, in a resolution high enough to catch all the details.Β
Battledamage, yes, this is a topic i have to improve on. I can see you found the Stormtalon, all nice and weathered. The tanks are not. I somehow did not really feel like painting some damage on them. The Forgeworld stuff is much more inspiring to do so, at least i feel that way. I did not really want to use decals for a long time, after having some really bad experiences applying decals. By now i have overcome that trauma, so they will be used on future models!Β
I was going to add some dead, yellow grass to the bases one day... but i did not really get around to flock the bases... to be honest, i might forget it for a even longer time if you hadnΒ΄t mentioned it!
The Plasma weapons were airbrushed all the way. To be honest, i donΒ΄t really understand how to improve it. The Contemptor was painted in a differend way, the flow was made by applying white with my airbrush, and use a green ink like color (actually, it was a transparent airbrush pigment i used for it, but as a wash).
You will be blown away, but the Contemptor is actually the one i made first, all models, i really say ALL models you see on my page were painted after that one. I kind of wanted to rush through all the models i got. I had collected for a long time, but did not paint that much. One day, after i had finsihed the Contemptor and got some critiques, i decided to get all my models painted before buying anything new (kinda worked out). The dust effect is my secret actually, on my marines it is simply the overspray i get when painting the base with my airbrush and drybrushing the highlights afterwards. It is the same color i use as main color for my bases (Valejo US Field Drab). Yeah, the white was a good idea. Even though future Rhino Chassis wont have it on the front, but only in the recessed (?) parts of the armor. Just as yours!Β
The Captain was a fun project. It is the first conversion/kitbash i have ever made. It is hard to see, the shield is made out of plasticcard, had to cut and bend it to make it fit, as well as the Omega on the surface. Unfortunately i made a new base. The previous one did not really match my army at that point.Β
Yeah, the classic Ultramarine debuff in rating As you might be able to see better on the newest update I have made many approaches to paint the models, both infantry and vehicles. I tried some airbrushing, drybrushing, just a paintbrush, anything. Even though this is the largest army of mine (and will be for a long long time) i will let them as they have been painted, and use everything i have learned to paint my upcoming project, a Salamanders army.Β
I think we have some Oil washes here, i am not sure if i played around with them at some point, but i have to check that again.Β
The critique was perfect, no need to worry! I would really wish to see more of your kind across the internet.Β
Thank you so much for the ideas! I will try to use as much of them as possible!

No problem, glad it was received positively. Also, just another positive note, I checked out your other photos, the effect you are doing with the eyes is a nice touch as well.

A very nice looking army, and I am liking your painting. You obviously are taking your time, which shows in the quality of the paint job.

You gotΒ a lotΒ more firepower then me. And I mean A LOT more.

I only have that much in my army, I do have more men, but I want more heavy duty firepower. And I need to cut my Bike Squad's Vet. Sergeant and give him a Power Sword.

I mainly need to cut my Bike Squad's Vet. Sergeants left arm off and put a arm with a Power Sword on. I was at first gonna have a Attack Bike with a Multi-melta but I got two Land Speeders armed with one so I swapped the Attack Bike for a Land Speeder. I just need to get my hands on some heavy fire power and a few tanks.

I know, not sure what colours to paint my tanks. Only got my Captain, one Tactical Squad, two Scout Squads, a Dreadnought and a Terminator Squad painted in my colours. The rest are Ultramarines.

Well, my marines claim the name Ultramarines, but in fact you will soon see that i do not really follow the "real" colors ^^Β
Everyone will be part of the second company but the Veteran, they will eb the only ones with white pads.
