Man, this piece was so much fun! Started painting a week before the Crystal Brush and finished in time to take home the Bronze for the single Fantasy/ steampunk category. The competition was steep, over 200 people submitted minis for the awards this year!The base of the mini from the halfway point of the chimney is hand sculpted by me in miliput. I choose to incorporate NMM, OSL and freehand work. You can't see the freehand in this work, but I painted wood grain on her gun and the top of the black base is painted to look like a sidewalk far below and grass to the right of the building. I was trying to capture a rainy night, so there are some water effects on the top of the chimney and roof.

Unfortunately no I didn't go this year. I was originally planning to, but alot of unexpected stuff came up right beforehand. Hopefully next year

Ah man, that's a bummer. I opted to go to Adepticon instead. It's the same weekend as Reaper's but closer to me by a little bit since I live an hour away from Chicago and a long way from Texas.

Wonderful mini-diorama base! The lighting effects on the bricks and with the glow of the window are particularly effective. The mini looks great, too -- sculpt-wise, I really like the touch with the antenna and those long coat tails (even if they might seem a liiiiittle bit impractical for a roof-hopping sniper type, but, hey, Rule of Cool, right?). Overall, a beautiful piece.

Ah yes. MAGICAL coats. That works.
(Next time I'm in a fantasy game, I want to petition the GM to have an "Enchanted Cape of Dramatic Posing" -- having no power whatsoever except to furl dramatically as if blown by a convenient breeze when my hero strikes a pose, and not to tangle his feet and trip him up whenever he's doing, ya know, actual action-hero adventurer stuff in confined spaces such as a dungeon.)
