Description EDIT: These kittens are now orphans. We have rescued them and have them at our place right now, trying to make sure they survive and find them good homes.

I. Loved. This. Moment.

Great interaction shot against a backdrop that delicately counterpoints the colour of the two beauties.

Ah, I love this moment too. When my neighbor's cat has kittens, they always play like that everyday!

They are so adorable. I rescued these two because their mother died, but then I had to give them away. Soooo sad about it...

That's good to know They reminded me of Salem and Mitten when they were younger, chasing each other around our old house, though most of the time, Mitten would scream bloody murder to get a rise out of us

Unfortunately, their mother was killed yesterday! So... we have them at the house. We rescued them today... If everything goes on alright, we soon will have them running around and chasing each other around the house.

It was a stupid dog! My dad still tried to prevent it, but it was too late.
I hope so too. Poor things are so scared, they just hiss at us and lay where they are. We hope they slowly get used to us and that we can find them good homes.

If they're young enough, I'm sure, depending on where they're sleeping, try sleeping in the same room with them to get used to your presence. They could also be wary due to the trauma of losing their mother to what they may believe to be a monster bigger than them.

We all are in the same room presently, and we're trying to let them adapt. They have some milk (the kind that is actually for cat) and they're together. Fortunately, I don't think they witnessed their mother's death. They were playing happily earlier today, but we were scared the dog could come back.

Ah, I just hope that dog doesn't come back, or if there's a chance it might, see about calling anyone who could handle catching the dog to either try to re-tame it or if need be, put it down. Though the dog killed their mother, it could get worse where it may attack a human, more likely a child if wary of adults

As for the kittens, if you hadn't tried, try tossing a ball to them or drag a string for them to go bonkers over Even a feather might be enough to possibly realize you and your parents aren't there to hurt them, but help them. Who knows

They're still really scared, but we've managed to feed them! They're now about to fall asleep, which is good. They sort of were starving.

I'm sure they'll warm up to you, just do what you can to interact with them to make them feel comfortable If need be, you could try a cat puppet or doll to act as a surragate mother and if it remains with you or someone and the kittens like it, might slowly trust you while around it. Just an idea I picked up from a class in psychology and some programs on TV

MinnaSD In reply to blackstarlight17 [2012-06-10 23:09:49 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I might try that! Thanks!!
The problem is, I don't think they realized they've lost their mom. To them, we just randomly picked them from a place where they were living with her and that was full of her scent. It's sad, poor guys, but they seem better. They're eating! That's a victory already!

blackstarlight17 In reply to MinnaSD [2012-06-10 23:55:35 +0000 UTC]

That's good to know, and if there is a chance they don't think she's dead, try getting a doll/puppet that looks enough like her, not to cruelly fool them, but help them adjust much similar to normal cats do with their young And if you haven't already, try giving them names, something they may realize signifies them or something
