I admit. I have this habit of picking characters that are completely different from my personality, making them so hard for me to RP.

There are just so many RP decisions that I regret with Aiden because I'm still learning how to play him. Soooo many times in which I'm like OH SHIT CAN I JUST...TAKE ALL OF THAT BACK PLZ aagghhhhhhhh. It makes me hesitant to RP with him more until I can figure him out, but I figure him out mainly through RP. I feel like he is there, but I'm just not a very good voice box for him.

SO YEAH. THIS IS A ROUNDABOUT WAY OF SAYING I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT I'M DOING...AGAIN. ;v; I'M SORRRRYYYYYY. ;A;

On another note, Aiden is also totally off his game in RP world....so I think I can justify any ooc replies. I don't really want to but...ok. ;v;

Before, his hair was all floaty but I felt it was appropriate for it to be down for this one. ;v;

RP is super-fun, no? I understand what you mean when you say it's tough to play characters you have difficulty getting into. A character I once RPed was a bit dumb and quiet and also a good guy, which doesn't fit with my smart-mouthed, outspoken, a-hole routine. I played him only for half a year or so, because it was becoming a real drag. My other character in the same RP stuck to my routine and was around for seven years. Kinda gives you a better feeling when you're comfortable with who you are portraying.

You are totally right, Celvas, it's really a drag to play a character who is totally different than me! I really really have a hard time thinking what in the world would they do, because their actions really are not second nature. >< But I think I have a serious addiction, because ALL my characters tend to be completely the opposite of me! XD XD


I guess for me, RP has always been an escapist thing. Even though they are REALLY REAAALLLYYYY hard to work with and completely frustrating.... they aren't me. And it's nice to escape from yourself every now and then. It's like pressing the hard restart button. It's nice to fall into a dream sometimes. ;v;

I can get into a lot of shoes and different characters. See, I like to make up stories for others, which means I also have to create NPCs of all shapes and sizes and play them out. That's usually fun, for a short time. On the long run it's often like, "Argh, dangit all to hell, there is this super cool thing I want to do in this situation BUT IT WOULD BREAK CHARACTER." My characters are very different from me, too. I wouldn't say I am a bad person, which most of my characters are, and I really, really don't have any of their brands of crazy. Even the "good guys/gals" are insufferable.

Escapist, yeah. That, you put nicely and accurately. Despite my RP characters's inherent (and plenty) flaws, they are strong, confident, they function in a crisis, they can cope with losses, they don't depend on others, and they make their own happiness (or misery, whichever way they swing). Those are things to aspire to, I think, and also things that I am very bad at. As a dreamer, though, I get to spend a lot of time seeing the world in my very own context.

The saying is, a picture is worth a thousand words. I'd say this picture is worth a thousand stories. From the very simple imagery here, I would think anyone seeing it would be able to create their own story for what is happening here, many similar, many wildly differing, but each unique. Well done.

i did find a rather indepth questionnaire on tumblr for character development, if you would like a link? maybe you could even toy around with writing him through first, second and third person. c: I've recently done some second and first exercises for characters, it'd been fun if nothing else!
