Description 1: technically not in the books, Joren bullying Merric

I imagine Joren with his hair down since Kel makes a point of noting that Joren had his hair tied back for training, which I think implies that he normally doesn't have his hair tied up.

2, 3, 4: pieces of that scene in First Test with Merric confronting Kel for defending him. Merric, Kel, and Neal respectively.
5: older!Merric who regards Kel as one of his closest friends x-posted to tumblr but I thought it should be on dA as well

I have so much trouble with Merric's design; I just know he has straight straight red hair, freckles, blue eyes, and is thin and lanky during puberty, haha. He's one of my favorites in the minor cast.

MERRIC! I adore your older!Merric design, it's almost exactly how I pictured him as well - especially the jawline/chin. The only real difference is that in my head he has a darker hair colour, more red as opposed to ginger (yes, I know the description "red hair" means ginger, but I can't help my imagination...) ALSO BABY!KEL IS ADORBS, CAN I KEEP HER PLZ? (Neal and Merric too, obvs, but mostly Kel. I mean. Look at her ickle HANDS!)

Young Kel's hands are simply wonderful - expressive and delicately drawn. That panel on it's own would be kickass. But it's just one in a set of five equally good panels. jeez.
