So I wasn't the only one who wanted to romance Aveline... -sniff- One day.
Varric was definitely charming, too.
Call me predictable... I romanced Cassandra and Blackwall in Inquisition.

Haha, I guess that means I'm predictable too. I romanced Blackwall, and would totally have romanced Cassandra if I could commit to playing a dude for the duration of an entire DA:I playthrough. I hope to one day get a warrior lady LI who is into girls.

That would be pretty interesting, yeah. Badass warrior lady LI who's gay/bi. I could see it... -nod nod-
Or even, if they wanted to go even further, one who's not bi, just gay (although I hesitate to put it exactly like that). I wonder, though...

Welp. I can't exactly disagree.
I get it, since he explicitly said (through some dialogue or other that I can't remember at the moment... I think) that he only goes for dwarven women. So, sure, I give his non-romanceable-ness a total pass for DA2. Inquisition has no excuse, though. I was going to create a dwarf chick JUST so that I could try some Varric love, but noooo....

I was initially disappointed that he's not romanceable even by a dwarf Inquisitor, but after playing it, I don't really mind anymore. VarricΒ will never be as close to the Inquisitor as he was to Hawke, and he's got that whole thing with Bianca and all of that is fine to me. I'm content to be a mother hen and side with him on every argument because honestly he usually has a point.
Plus Blackwall's romance turned out to be so goodΒ that it made up for all the romances I couldn't have, be it due to a complete lack of a romance path (Varric) or my staunch refusal to play a dude (Cassandra, Dorian).

It's actually sad that the male L.I.s don't hold a candle to him. I actually wanted Varric to be my L.I. when I first started playing Dragon Age games. But when I found out he wasn't an option I literally started crying. Why did the game designers had to make him so damn irresistible?! Its that basted chest hair of his! I always liked men with great chest hair. It makes me so sad and so in love with him. But to have him as friend is still rewarding none the less.Β

So true I wanted to romance him too shame his fabulous chest hair and Bianca were his only loves (I hope for a dwarven or qunari (hopefully both) romance option in the third game (unlikely but still))

I think David Gaider has expressed dislike of the idea of dwarf romance options (he might've been joking, I don't know) which makes me feel like we're not going to get one. Still, I like to hope that Varric's popularity will convince the writers to put one romanceable dwarf in the third game. Qunari would also be a nice option to have, yeah.

Spoilsport... (sigh) as long as they don't make another overly broody love interest for the females I'll be happy, or at least if they create variety.
Yes or a Male Kosslith of some kindXD

Yeah, the others are cool and everything, but not exactly romance material (from my point of view) for various reasons.

Well, Isa bela no. Merrill, maybe. If you can get past Blood Magic. Fenris, why not? Everyone loves a broody guy, think they can make him open up. And Anders would have been perfect minus the whole *spoiler* so... xD VARRIC! AVELINE! Y U NO ROMANCEABLE! It's because they're eerily normal. :T

Mipeltaja In reply to GeminiSolace [2011-07-13 17:48:02 +0000 UTC]
Heh, to me Isabela seemed like the best option out of the ones available. Merril felt more like a sister, Fenris was being difficult because I was pro-mage, and Anders just wasn't that interesting on the first playthrough (I simply don't want to romance him after playing through the game once). But Isabela doesn't like commitment, and I didn't want to force her.

GeminiSolace In reply to Mipeltaja [2011-07-13 20:19:04 +0000 UTC]
That's exactly the reason I wouldn't want to romance Isabela and yes, Merrill is too kid sister-ish. Not to mention Blood Magic's bad, mm'kay? At least that's my viewpoint but anywho yeah they did kind of drop the ball with the romances, especially considering you have to beat Anders off with a stick if you play as a male but as a female it's just like "Ohay lady. How you?" and he seems to show no interest until you do. Like someone else said before it's like two different realities form depending on your gender and not your choices.
