This is my first real attempt at doing Disney fanart, so I'd greatly appreciate your thoughts (positive and constructive-criticism) on this piece.
Watching Mulan with my roommate the other night, I wondered for the umpteenth time why they didn't put Captain Shang in a hanfu as well. (Because he's the manly love interest. Right, I know, but THAT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH.)
My roomie mentioned that at least there'd be fanart of it somewhere on the internet. But you know what? I looked for well over an hour and didn't find ANY pictures of Shang in drag.
My personal rule of the internet is; if there isn't a picture of it posted somewhere, you must create and post it immediately.
So here it is, my personal contribution to the internet. (Someone else can handle rule 34 on this one.)
And, yes. I do realize I will see hellfire for this. ^.^
D**N IT DISNEY, WHY DO YOUR CHARACTERS HAVE TO BE SO OBSCENE TO DRAW?! Really, it was very hard for me to draw them in such a way that they resemble themselves.
PING'S HAND NEEDS TO BE TAKEN OUT AND SHOT. And my coloring skills continue to suck. : ) (I tried to incorporate Shang's uniform's color palate into this outfit. Did it work alright?)
Despite all this, I had waaaayyy too much fun doing this project. I laughed a lot making it. I just imagined the other guys being a little miffed that Shang got to infiltrate the palace without having to play Pretty Pretty (UGLY CONCUBINES) Princess Dress-Me-Up.

I'm writing my take on a Disney movie, where the love interest is a woman disguised as a man.
My take, I hope, will still seem Disneyish, but it'll be as dark as "Hunchback of Noter Dame", if not more so.

yeah i'm not really a disney addict. i'm more on anime.
but i think disney is kewl.
well, i kinda liked the old disney better. i don't like 3d animations. and live actions. 2d is more entertaining.
and i only watched cinderella, snow white, peterpan, and the king and i when i was a kid.
but lately, i watched mulan.

ok, you know how so many living things are being tortured, neglected, abused? lots. slavery, african americans (i dont call them "blacks", i find it a bit predjudice) were abused, they were whipped, forced to do chores in a FREE COUNTRY, sold to people who thought they were better then them. killing bugs; i know they are pests, but they help us, spiders eat the bugs that really can hurt us. about 30 percent of women and 20 percent of men are afraid of spiders. even though there are lots of people in the world, that is 50% of all humans. most people are afraid of things because their parents are, like my dad doesn't like snakes and neither do i. the main reason people are afraid of bees, wasps, hornets, and other insects that can sting you is BECAUSE they can sting you. but, sometimes bees do it on accident. they're mad, and adrenalin (did i spell that right?) takes over them. i mean, if you needed your arm to survive, and if it was taken off your body, you would die, would YOU just throw it away like candy wrappers? no, cause you would need it. many people misunderstand these beautiful (did i spell that right?) creatures. they just kill them. some slaves have even been killed. people used to kill other human beings, and now their ancestors are doing the exact same thing to bugs. they don't realize how much we need these bugs. bees pollinate the food that is grown, so it can grow, and we can have food to eat. spiders eat flies, which are big pests. people abuse their own pets too, fattening them up JUST so they can get in some book. more people need to realize these things. even if it's as simple as geting rid of a bees nest, it can hurt the enviornment in some way. if we can do that, stop killing bugs, stop our pets from eating bugs, and stop others from killing each other, we can make a big difference.

Haha cute! I love Mulan. Way back in seventh grade we had this contest and the topic was, "Who is your role model?" I chose Mulan and won because mine was the most original and well written. Ilove this. It's so funny. Great job.

I really liked Mulan as well. When I was 9, she was like what I always hoped Jasmine would be if she would just go out and have an adventure on her own.

I know right? Haha. I love the songs, and the characters are hilarious. I think its so funny when you watch it as a kid and its cool, and then when you watch it when you're older and you actually get the insults and other things. My favourite song is the one where Mulan is at boot camp and climbs up the pole to reach the arrow. (Yeah, I'm such a dork...and no, I don't have a life haha) :laugh:
