The hunt had been good, the chase intoxicating. It had taken three shafts to take the hog down, three mad charges she had dodged just as she let the arrows fly. It had graced her on the last pass, but she had put that last arrow through it's eye in return, now it was bleeding all it's rage out in the grasss.

She had given thanks before running her blade across it's throat, thanks for the life that was given. Though in truth it was not given, she had taken it
