They were ready to attack me, but I was totally brave because I watched César Millán.Okay, that, and they were both wearing electric fence collars. (Still, the battery could have worn down.. ehem )

Ha! Well I should have recorded the sound that went along with the picture. By the way, dogs also wag their tail when they're going to bite.. Really? I've seen the American version, and I only remember some rare, more extreme occasions when a shock collar was used, like when a cattle dog on a farm kept biting at the wheels of the tractor. He already had lost an eye when he was ran over, so they decided to keep him away from tractors by use of a shock collar,
I can only say I'm very thankful to Cesar for sharing his knowledge. I followed his method and it works incredibly well. I now have a happy calm dog in stead of an anxious dominant one, and it only took me a day (!) to accomplish that
But you're a cat person, right? I believe some of his techniques also work for cats!
