+ Self-motivated: After discovering the loveliness of the voice, Shinobu was voracious in obtaining knowledge about how to train himself. He went out of his way to find out all he could about music. He's the type of person who'll go out of his way to do the things he wants.
+ Helpful: As long as it's not physical labor, Shinobu is the type to help when he can. Despite being tactless, he's not judgmental. He'll try to help, no questions asked. After being sick for so long, he realized how many people were around to help him and decided to dedicate part of his life to helping others.
+ Passionate: When he gets involved in something, he gets involved. As assistant to the Chorus Club, it won't be rare to see him running around putting up posters and fliers. If you get him talking, he can and probably will talk for days about things that he likes.

/ Absentminded: He lives a lot of his life in his head. He can wander the halls without a destination and forget what he was doing almost immediately. Sometimes he misses class because he heard the birds chirping outside.
/ Solitary: Because he wasn't at school often when he was young, Shinobu really didn't learn how to make friends. He's come to Tachibana with a blank slate, but he's not the type to go out of his way to introduce himself unless it's for a certain cause. He's almost too comfortable with being alone.

- Rude: He doesn't try to do this on purpose, but because he can get so focused on a task, Shinobu tends to forget about the people around him. He's the guy who forgets to hold doors open for people, bumps into them and keeps walking, etc.
- Tactless: On a similar vein, since he can get quite self-absorbed at times, he forgets to consider other people's feelings when talking about his opinions. At times he may say something without considering the other person's position, even if he may not mean it in an insulting way, he can still hurt the people around him.
- Weak: This is more in the physical sense. Shinobu had a weak immune system as a child leading him to be in bed often. Though his health has gotten better, he never really picked up any sports leading him to be very athletically unskilled. In other words, don't ask him to help you carry heavy things because he will be of little help (though he will try).

biography:
His throat was scratchy and breathing left his lips dry and chapped. The room could've been destroyed and he wouldn't even know it. There was cotton in his head, heavy metal flowing through his arms, and he felt like he was floating and sinking at the same time. But that wasn't really a new sensation. Shinobu was sick, but he was almost always sick.

His parents were caring and lovely and tried but it wasn't easy to alleviate the boredom that came with being stuck in a room all day. Reading became more difficult when words started blurring together and stirring together in his flu muddled head. Playing board games was difficult when his arms felt like stone. Not to mention that Sorry! was only so much fun after playing it around thirty times. TV was better, but it was hard to stay awake through it, and even more difficult to retrace what happened in the more convoluted series.

It was another day in bed, and Shinobu wondered which of the three his parents would think to try and entertain him with today.

The door creaked and a sliver of light entered his dark room. The shadow of his mother slipped in, and she placed herself gracefully at the base of his bed. In her hand was a bulky old walkman with a set of headphones. She carefully placed them over her son's ears and pressed play. The sound of hundreds of voices filled his ears simultaneously, and suddenly the cotton in his head faded for just a moment, but a moment was all he needed.

When Shinobu got better, he asked his mother and father for an iPod. His mother smiled knowingly, and she smiled knowingly again when she heard that he wanted to be assistant for the Chorus Club at school.

Parents held him back a year because of how quickly he would get sick.
