Description

"Ya know I didn't say much when I helped you build the first one, but I gotta say kids, I don't think strapping a motor to an oversized skateboard is very safe."

"Its OK Mr Jones, we are still going to wear helmets."

"Reah, relmets!"

----------

Freds Dad is a mechanic who lets them use his workshop and helps them build stuff from time to time. The workshop is attached to the gas station which Freds Mum runs and his brother Mike helps out after school.

His Dad is usually pretty lax on stuff like safety, preferring to let kids be kids and what have you. But maybe a dangerously fast over sized skateboard is his limit. Even if they will be wearing helmets.

In the official shows? Not really. His traps were always needlessly complicated though so although they didn't mention it he obviously liked them way more than an average person.

In my universe he really wants to prove that monsters are real, he would be happy with a photo but in his eyes nothing could be better than catching a real one. Hes also not into killing things (unlike his Dad, who loves to hunt) so that's where the interest in traps comes in, with traps you can catch something and not hurt it. When he gets proof he intends to send it into the national exaggerator, collect a bunch of awards and prove to everyone that he was right all along about monsters existing.

Yeah I've mixed in a lot of bits and pieces from all the other universes, mystery inc included. But the parents in that one didnt sit well with me at all so I gave them all a pretty big overhaul (apart from Velmas mum, I kept her, shes cool.)

Seeing as this is based on A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, which is an alternate universe to Mystery Inc, I agree.Β  At least Skip is making sure the kids are going to be safe.

That is an awesome idea, probably not a wise oneβ€” but awesome nonetheless, but they may need more than helmets.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MisplacedExplorer In reply to Volespirit [2019-12-05 11:27:36 +0000 UTC]

yeah the ideas got merit but it needs a little extra something, like seat belts, maybe seats, and put the motor in some sort of protective shell...like a van! Too bad they are too young to drive.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Volespirit In reply to MisplacedExplorer [2019-12-05 12:30:53 +0000 UTC]

True, and besides that, is that even street legal?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MisplacedExplorer In reply to Volespirit [2019-12-05 14:26:39 +0000 UTC]

I doubt it. They'd better hope they don't get pulled over by Shaggys policeman Dad or his coworkers. The gang might be too young to be formally charged with anything but they can totally still get grounded.

Knowing Shaggy and Scooby they would refuse to get on that thing solely on the principle of cowardice. The Brand name on the motorized parts was scary enough. Using products made by acme never ends well, just watch any wile e coyote cartoon.

**Giggles!**

This is so awesome! Β Nothing like seeing the more sensible Mr. Jones. Β

He sounds a lot like my Pop. Β Often he was home on the weekends when he was home at all when I was growing up back in the 1970s. Β He would make breakfast of pancakes and I would watch cartoons until he and Mom kicked me out of the house ... or unleashing me on the neighborhood. Β Depends on how you want to look at that. Β

I think the idea of being unleashed on the neighborhood is a much funner way of looking at things as opposed to being kicked outside to go play.

My pleasure!

That’s the way I always looked at it. But then again this was also before computers and video games that we keep you inside and the culture of fear that keeps kids in the house.

Death trap?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MisplacedExplorer In reply to Barricade379 [2019-12-05 09:13:07 +0000 UTC]

Figure of speech. Dangerous vehicles and dilapidated houses are often called death traps. An oversized skateboard, with a motor attached, that will be ridden by multiple children wearing only helmets for protection qualifies as a death trap. Its not a literal trap meant to kill someone, that's a little dark for Freds taste. He's more into catch and release.
