Mohatu is a very well-known figure in Pridelands history, as he is considered to be one of the best rulers that the kingdom has ever had. Unlike his father Enitan who basically did whatever he pleased because he had the title of king, Mohatu believed in putting the needs of others before his own. He is soon seen as a much better ruler that his father, and after he saves his homeland by finding a new source of water during the Great Drought, he became one of the most beloved kings the land has ever known.

As an adult, Mohatu is married to his betrothed Furaha, but it soon turns out that conceiving a little of cubs is difficult, as Furaha doesn't seem to be very fertile. But nevertheless they keep trying, and after they've reached their middle ages, Furaha finally bears a litter of cubs: two sons named Ahadi and Thembi and a daughter named Hazina. Mohatu spends his remaining years teaching them to act kind and just towards others, just as he acts towards his own subjects. Hazina is betrothed to the nearby Sunrise Pride, Uaminifu trains to become the next leader of the Lion Guard and his oldest child Ahadi is raised to be the next ruler of the Pridelands. As Ahadi grows older, he is shown to be very patient, and believes to value his subjects above all else and will go wherever duty leads him. Because of this, the aging Mohatu believes that he will be a great king someday.

Mohatu dies peacefully in sleep one winter's eve shortly after his son Ahadi's coronation as king. After his death, a star that was bigger and brighter than the rest appeared in the night sky. Many in the Pridelands believe that this star is the spirit of Mohatu, still continuing to watch over his kingdom.

Mohatu is Mufasa and Scar's grandfather who appears in the TLK book "The Brightest Star" . I decided to make him Ahadi's father in my TLK universe because I don't see that very often.
