Model, mua: myself

This was shot during Lori's Steel Factory Workshop. We managed to find some time for shooting sets, this room seemed to be some kind of furnace room. The pipe-line and metal structures were incredible and massive! I can only imagine what it looked like before it started to rot away.

The entire 62 full-size image set is up on [link]

i certainly wont be telling you if you plan on messing up the beauty of the decaying building! you taggers have no respect for the dying :\

its a privately owned building, so you would be charged with trespassing and damaging private property

uh-uh now! i don't know who you think i am but i have MAJOR respect for decaying buildings. obviously you haven't seen my gallery to see how i get down. i'm no toy nor a tagger thug--i'm an artist, or have you forgotten that already? don't tell me you're one of those "art snobs" who think graffiti isn't art let alone a form of communication--it's the voice of the ghetto! the epitome of urban blight. even some cops in nueva york admit that they see nothing wrong with the artform except that it's illegal and they have to uphold the law. one flatfoot had the audacity to say that if his son was bustin' pieces on a wall he'd be proud. muthafucka what you know about that? and i know the penalties of getting caught her in cali, it's a felony which means a 1st strike. 3 and your out--for being a artist? get the fuck outta here! and if you haven't noticed the law targets teenagers--12, 13 14-yr. olds and up. that's some bullshit, grown-ass men hunting down and beating up on kids. nothing but cowards.

Alright, first off, calm down. I never said graffiti can't be art. One of my favorite artists is a graffiti artist, Miss Van.

However, when I see graffiti plastered all over a gorgeous art deco 1930's building or some piece of beautiful history still standing today, I am extremely disappointed and quite frankly, pissed.

Do you really believe its ok to paint over other people's property without permission? Do you know how rare some of the buildings are that are permanently damaged by graffiti? Architecture is an art form too, don't forget that. Would you think its ok to paint over the Mona Lisa, and then get angry when people tell you its wrong? Whats the excuse? Graffiti is an art form too? You're right, it is. But it should have its own place. Not on another art piece.

Are you asking me if graffiti should be illegal or something? I don't get why you're jumping all over the place because I like to protect historical buildings. Should an art form be illegal? No. Should graffiti be legal when done with permission from the property's owners? Yes. Should graffiti be illegal when it is painting over another art form, i.e. architecture and detailing, and without permission from the property's owner? Yes.

The penalties seem to be harsh here in CA, but they are what they are. Property owners and cities are tired of using their own funding, and funding from tax payers to paint over and clean up buildings that have been tagged and bombed with paint that, like I said before, are used without permission. Nobody has that right, and nobody should have that right, art form or not. I don't plaster my images all over the highways and cities and then get furious when the public starts attacking me for it. Not everyone will see it as art the way you do, and there's nothing you can do about that. I keep my images out of the way of people who don't want to see them and on my own canvas, the internet. Find yours or make friends with some nice factory owners.

well i'm glad we can have a mature adult discussion about this. i seem to have no luck having these types of exchanges. as far as the mona lisa crack, google banksy's name or go to [link] and see what he did to the mona lisa in a museum. 2 words: hi-larious! oh, so you like frenchie-mamma miss van? she's so cool! her stuff is crazy erotic and tender, something lacking in this male-dominated world of graffiti. i don't go over murals or anything like that, i'm from the old school. these new graff writers, these kids today, have no respect or knowledge of the history which is why they use names of old graff legends or someone across the country or the world. they make us look bad, REAL BAD. and store owners can't even allow graff writers to piece up on a wall even with their permission & a permit by the city because they still say it's illegal and the store owners are breaking the law by giving them carte blanche. if there's an ugly burnt-out dilapidated building or wall then i'm gonna hit it up just like if i see a billboard of an ad i HATE it's gonna get tagged, no question and no 2nd guessing. thanx for not getting too offended by my response. i guess that means we're still friends..........kinda. you doing ok?
