There isn't. The term dates back to the Indians, whom had a name for just about everything. And snow moon was called such because of the month it occurs in, with February being a snowy month. Also because of other natural things occurring at that time, it is also call sap moon (amongst other names - which pertain), because of nature, the trees beginning to produce sap again, etc ) The Indians always had a real, and connected "reason" which made sense, when they gave a particular name to a thing.
