Description By September Knight

The staff of Hollow Weekly would like to extend our deepest and most sincere apologies for the articles released on Tuesday. They were not representative of the content we wish to release from our newsroom and it was never our intention to cause anyone any unnecessary distress. Our mission is to provide the most informative articles for public consumption. We want to educate our readers about all that is happening in Hollow Grove and become productive parts in its continual growth. We should never be the source of controversy.

Like any workplace, however, mistakes are made. Tempers flare, misunderstandings abound and the mess becomes bigger than originally intended. This isn’t an excuse on our part. Even when mistakes are made, there needs to be accountability.

I, as associate editor-in-chief of Hollow Weekly, will take full and complete responsibility for the incidents that took place on Tuesday. I’m the final voice on every piece that goes into post. Even though I was willfully circumvented twice during the course of these events, I should’ve been more vigilant.

I can’t make up for the egos bruised, the worldviews shaken, or the lives put into complete halt by a few careless words. Just have it on my honor that such transgressions will not escape my notice in the future.

Also, I would like to take a moment to mention that monstrous acts and a monster’s way of life should never be falsely equated. As a few of our readers rightly pointed out, our phrasing in both articles feed into very negative stereotypes about monster culture. The term “monster” should never be used interchangeably with evil or a person of vile character. We can all accept that each living thing on this planet has an equal capacity for evil, monster or no.

Finally, I would like to offer my personal apologies to “TheRealNeckBiter83” and “Mummy4Life.” Our political correspondent and ill-advised opinion columnist, Mariela Hudson, shouldn’t have called you out like that in her apology. She’s personally sorry for any damage wrought through her careless words.
