Description No, sir--

I don't believe in love at first sight.
Simply because I don't even believe in love.

Why would I believe
that two strangers could see each other on the streets
and fall head over heels over pavement over sky in love
when I can't even find proof
that love is more than an
illusion?

And no, sir--

I will not be marrying you,
nor will I be considering it.

Why would I believe
that two human beings could possibly coexist
without eventually looking at each other in disgust because
her eyes have dimmed
and his hands have calloused
and the feeling all together is
gone?

And no, sir--

I am not joking.
This is completely real.

Why should I joke
about something that's already been turned into such a joke
with the main characters being star struck morons
and the punch line being
divorce
or death
or maybe if you're feeling lucky
both?

And NO, sir--

You won't be proving me wrong.
Simply because even time is against you.

Why should I believe
that something so simple as two small golden bands
could keep two lives together forever
when they can't even keep themselves from getting thrown in the first argument?
Why should I believe
that something so simple as two small golden bands and some words
could shelter two hearts from thunder storms
in the form of floods of heart broken tears and twice as many violent curses?
Why should I believe
that story book endings are real
when they fight so hard to keep the epilogue
under lock and key and stone towers, up in a room guarded by the evil dragon, exactly where they started?
Why should I believe
that story book endings are real
and don't really end with Prince Charming sleeping around with Sleeping Beauty
and Cinderella getting back at him
through a fling with Sir Robin Hood?

Tell me, sir--

Why should I believe
that spending my time chasing dreams
is more productive
than just spending my time
crying over the bitter reality
that love < lust, if love was ever even real
and besides, cupid's a picky little bastard
who can't seem to make up his mind
so instead he's made up
mine for me.

So tell me, sir--

No, I don't believe in love...
But would you care to be tonight's lust-ridden mistake?

Wow . This was a fantastic deviation. You do raise a good point on this though (as have I before), if love is real or not. You just expressed it better. The fact being that story tell ending rarely happens, love at first sight might be possible (if love is real), and that as you said cupid is a picky bastard. I know that we had a similar conversation like this on a deviation, so I shall not advance it. I myself do believe in love, but is unsure if it is just a feeling that stays with you forever or goes away and I quote "love < lust. Sorry this is so long, but still fantastic job.

Prince Charming fucked Sleeping Beauty before he knew her and killed his current wife for her. Aw, would you still say that killing for the one you love isn't "love"?
