Description It literally means 'Daughter of The King' in Bataknese. If it's a boy, it's 'Anak ni Raja' or 'Son of The King'

Boru ni Raja is a Batak concept to not to take females lightly. Because without females, men cannot have children nor grandchildren. Boru ni Raja is also a concept of "honour" and "reverence". It concludes many aspect such as morales, duties, etiquettes, dignity, pride, wisdom, sensitivity, tradition, customs, etc. No matter who the parents is, each female are born as Boru ni Raja. A Batak woman shall not cheat from her husband, torn their families apart, cause troubles, etc. The same goes for a Batak man. Batak is still patriarchal, but we are more respectful towards females.

The basket is called Suhi Nampang Naopat. The bottom is square shaped while the rest is round (somewhat like a goblet). The bottom have to be square, for it symbolises the four elements of a family. Usually it is used to put food, laundry, or groceries. It is also used to carry the bones of ancestors during Mangokkal Holi ceremony (a ceremony where we dug out our ancestors' bones and rebury them in better place)

The staff I'm holding is Tongkat Tunggal Panaluan. It is usually owned by Batak King or witchdoctors. My grandfather have one... And it's really creepy (Honestly, I cringed drawing the staff)

I hope you enjoy this new information about Batak people and Indonesia~
