Description A closer shot of my painting of Howl from Howl's Moving Castle I did on the snow day recently. If only it could fit in my scanner, then it would make things sooo much easier. >_<

Howl's Moving Castle copyright Diana Wynne Jones and Hayao Miyazaki

Wow, a beautiful painting job! The details in the houses are really amazing too!

I love it when other people know that Howl's Moving Castle was originally a book by Diana Wynne Jones! I love the movie too of course, but the book has a very special place in my heart <3

Thanks so much! Yeah after I saw the movie and found out it was a book I read it right away. It's a wonderful book, there are so many great moments in it that the film didn't have. Still, I love them both. I have to get around to reading the sequels though!

It IS a very lovely book! Ms. Jones is such a unique and fantastic writer. I love the humor of her writing style! I've read Castle in the Air (which is an AMAZING book), but I haven't read the other sequel yet (House of Many Ways, right?). Have you read any other books by her? I really recommend Archer's Goon, if you haven't read it yet!

No I haven't, I've been wanting to read Castle in the Air for years but never have found the time. I loved Howl's Moving Castle though, so I definitely want to look into more of her work!

Thanks! I know, Miyazaki's absolutely amazing. Tips? Hmm. Well if you're going into watercolor one thing that I learned is using the white of the paper to your advantage to show highlights and texture of different things instead of the white paint.
