*almost* completed Hot Rod Western Jacket for my senior collection. Please note the rendering in my gallery by the same name - this is the actual garment. 100% aqua wool, cropped above waist. 2 double piped smile pockets with embroidered arrow corners, CF 3 button closure. Self-faced portrait shawl collar with hand-embroidered pinstripe design on back. 3 piece piped sleeves with appliqued roses from lining fabric. Completely lined.See the lining peeking out at the hem? That's what I need to finish
This jacket looks much better in person!

Drafted the pattern myself, this collection was done as my final senior project for design school - all patterns and sewing done by the student. Thanks for the compliments!

I especially Like the pinstripe, It is extra fine. I also like the pattern at the ends of the sleeves.Actually, I like it all, Very nice work.

Thank you - it's by far one of my two favorite pieces from the collection. I'm hoping to get some better pictures soon, but lack of funds and time is fighting that. Anyhow, thanks for the compliments on the pinstripe embroidery, that's my favorite part, took me about 2-3 hours to do that by hand. I spent probably a solid working day and a half making the thing (a day on the sleeves alone, they're each composed of three pieces plus piping and the applique, and those curves nearly killed me), then a coupla solid lecture hours stitching in the lining by hand - the prof. didn't seem to care, haha. There's a lot of time invested in this, but I hope to make another one for a Wool design contest in August, and it should go MUCH faster because I've already worked this one out. I love jackets, but I rarely make them because I specialized in street/sportswear in school, as opposed to tailoring. Tailoring is just a whole 'nuther ballgame.

That is so absolutely unique and gorgeous!! If I owned something like this, I'd probably wear it every day. I'm a sucker for pinstriping, and I love the way it's done on the back of the collar. The piping on the backs of the arms are a really beautiful accent as well.
