Yeah, really wished there was on-screen bonding between Wally and Bart. There are some good headcanons out there but a canon explanation of Wally's behavior would've been nice. Bart is a good kid and I think Wally knows that. Maybe he senses that Bart is hiding way more than is safe. Maybe he saw himself in Bart and secretly wants to get back into heroing but wants to put his relationship with Artemis first. I think maybe he felt a little insecure since Flash took Bart under his wing so fast but he had to convince Barry to even consider the sidekick position. I think there could've been many reasons.

I just think it would've been nice for the writers to give a canon reason and explain how Wally developed a closer relationship with Bart. Bart was on-screen a lot in season 2. A 3 minute scene would've been enough to satisfy me partially. I know they only have 22 minutes and needed to address other parts of the story, but I wouldn't have minded a whole damn episode just on Wally's and Bart's relationship.
