Yeah, I still prefer the Chaotix with just guys, for me, they are like the more flawed, disconnected and big stupid loser counterpart of team Sonic (who are also the good guys), aka their polar opposite.
I headcannon that they are secretly jealous of them and try to be better than them, like they're some sort of self-proclaimed rivals, but they obviously fail at it. XD

But seriously, I can't be the only one who think the Chaotix are basically the opposite of team Sonic. I mean, flaws aside, let's compare the teammates shall we?
Tails' cowardly yet extremely smart vs Charmy's hyper and scatterbrained
Sonic's cheerful, confident and impatient vs Espio's serious, calm and cold
Knuckles' headstrong and serious vs Vector's loud and jolly
Not to mention their colors. One is primary and the other is secondary.
Also, can you imagine a fistfight between them? XD
Also, there are other things that I want to mention, but aren't important. I could mention those now, but nah.

Well, I can see fem Vector being incredibly passionate, confident and a bit of a ditz, but is sensible about her appearance.
Female Espio is mostly reserved, introvert and no-nonsensical.
