D--> Couples fight, so I really don't see your point. He didn't rescue her for her looks or apologize for hurting her because of her looks. Sure, he's attracted to her but if he really just wanted her for her looks, he wouldn't be so stubborn about it.
As for Rouge, she may flirt a lot but she does have a secret thing for him. Aggression is key to hiding true feeling and I speak from experience and logic.

D--> I have heard that song, yes, but you can't base it off just words. You base it off how they openly argue toward each other. Knuckles is true to his duty of guarding that emerald and Rouge wants to steal it because that's what she's into. The way they act toward each other is openly hostile, at least that's how they want to make it seem. Knuckles does have a care for Rouge and Rouge does secretly have a crush on Knuckles, THAT is actually official.
I'm not basing the possibility of them working by saying "Oh, but she flirts with Knuckles" and "Oh, Knuckles thinks she's sexy". Who doesn't Rouge flirt with and who wouldn't think Rouge was sexy? She didn't have to give him his jewels back and he didn't have to apologize to her. By her looking back at him in such a fond way, that proves that she does indeed have something for him, but because of the type of person she is, she won't show her real feelings so easily.
