Here we are, you have already seen these designs but you don't know much about them, what i'm going to list here might change slightly in the future since this au is still a concept but the main lore for the characters are listed down here.

just saying, if the characters have new names they will be mentioned when the swaps are mentioned, so if we are talking about Asgore for example, it will be written: Asgore <> Napstablook, since he keeps the same name, if Napstablook is described, it will be written: Napstaking <> Asgore

I'm working on this au with Grave-of-Roseus , which helped me a lot, having another point of view on ideas is a great way to make a story appealing in my opinion

well then, here we go:

Frisk: Frisk is unchanged except for visual design, they are the same fallen human wanting to get out of the underground, calm and kind, they are willing to befriend the monsters even if they show signs of aggression.

Mettaton box <> Flowey
Mettatoy: this toy robot is here to turn your life into a drama show, they have installed/rebuilt most of the traps in the Wreckages (ruins), they do this for attention of course, they want your life to be hell, so they can entertain themselves. They are quite a sadistic foe. Mettatoy is the host to the missing soul of Alphys. The reason of their mean behaviors comes from the lack of soul in their body.

Asgore <> Napstablook
Asgore: Asgore lives in the Wreckages with Toriel, contrary to napstablook living in waterfall, asgore and toriel's house is situated in the Wreckages, he's a peaceful goat who likes growing flowers and drinking tea, he might invite you for some if you come across him. He will always be peaceful to you since he knows you are the only hope of the underground.

Sans <> Toriel
Sans: The laziest monster in the underground, he was too lazy to recalibrate the Wreckages' puzzles (but mettatoy kind of did it for him), Sans was set to watch the Wreckages and judge anyone who'd wish to pass through the gates to maintain the peace in the underground. In this story Sans is the one who thought Toriel how to use her magic. Sans his has powerful as in Undertale, but his too tired to use all of his magic, he will try to if you show him any signs of aggression though. Sans knows about resets and told it to Toriel

Toriel <> Sans
Toriel: for the good of the underground, she learned (with the help of Sans) how to use her magic at the fullest of it's potential, becoming a powerful sorceress, she left the Wreckages and is now traveling through the underground disguised as a royal mage (this underground's royal guard). Since Toriel knows about resets, she will defend the Final Hallway with her life if you do a genocide route, she will be kind with you if you have done a pacifist run.
Toriel and Muffet are friends, Muffet let Toriel live in her house at an absurd price but she's able to pay that price. Toriel gets information from Muffet at the end of her work periods.

Muffet <> Papyrus
Muffet: She joined the royal mages with Grillby as superior, but she was more interested in the money than the security of the underground, leading Grillby to try and persuade her to stop being part of the royal mages. But she didn't listen because she was greedy. her greed and power also led her to steal from weaker monsters and she'll do anything to get your money too. She's as strong as her undertale counterpart but won't use her magic at her fullest since she'll underestimate you.

Undyne <> Grillby
Undyne: She works at Un"dinners" and also funded the place. Undyne usually interact with her customers and gets attached to them. If anything happens involving her customers, she'll intervene. She was close friend with Alphys when they were both younger.

Grillby <> Undyne
Grillby: The lead of the royal mages, he's a pretty calm and professional individual who's here to do his job.

Asriel <> Alphys
Asriel: had dreams of helping people when he'd be older, now he hopes he's going to do a good job. Making medicine for sick monsters, he even made something that can turn a human soul into a monster like soul. He really likes flowers

Chara <> Mettaton ex
Chara: The first fallen human, It's Asgore and Toriel who adopted them and they quickly became friends with Asriel. When the time came for Asriel to become scientist they followed him as an assistant. Chara hated being human though, which is why Asriel made the brew for Chara to become a monster.

Papyrus <> Muffet
Papyrus: He wants to become a royal cook and be known through the underground for his cooking, but his food doesn't taste all that good. He will still sell it at high price not because of the money but just because he believes his spaghetti is the BEST in the underground and deserves to be pricey.

Napstaking <> Asgore
Napstaking: Naps feels pretty useless even if they are literally the monarch of the underground. They won't feel like killing you at the end of a run either, they will still use most of their magic but will lack motivation at the final strike. They mostly didn't know about the plan of killing humans to open the barrier. Their idea was just to live a boring life in the underground until death comes.

Alphys <> Asriel
Alphys: Alphys was always brilliant, and created many robot like toys she could play with when she was alone, since Naps didn't really take care of her, so she had to take care of herself, this is also why she's very shy and bad at socializing.

Mettacrit <> Chara
Mettacrit: They have been given life by Alphys. They always dreamed to be popular and made many shows with the help of Alphys to the underground, but for them having the same people watching those shows was getting boring to them, so they wanted to get out of the underground but died in the process (I still need to think of some things here). After death, their soul was still living (kind of) and they decided to narrate the story to the protagonist for a change. But pacifist routes become boring over time, the same show, the same scenes, the same drama, it's not enough (mettacrit in this au breaks the fourth wall a lot, indicating that finishing a pacifist route is cool but wouldn't be outstanding in real life, it's way more interesting to finish a no hit run irl, so they'll try to force you to do it, for attention)

these areas swap design so for example: ruins won't be in ruin but a big dungeon, and core will follow an abandoned futuristic city where nature as taken over.
