I had to play around with it but I'm using your vector for my character. dehyan.deviantart.com/art/Scot…
Hope you like it and don't mind me butchering the vector too much.

Thank you! I appreciate that you like what I've done with your resource. The extra body and leg plating was just me playing around with a "combat" version of the armor. In my comics I just use the normal look. They've become the go to for every image I made which I always link back to you. You've been a big help having these available.

I really appreciate this! It's come in very handy for my own character.

"The fact remains, gentlecolts, that the equipment used by the Royal Guards are inadequate in this day and age. This, in addition to the poor quality of training in our Royal Guards, are all signs of complacency that had been allowed to take hold in our kingdom, and which needs to be addressed if we are to defend our harmonious nation from other threats.
First, our armor. I'll be frank: It's pathetic. The armor is made of pure gold, which in addition to its cumbersome weight compare to more useful metals, lack the hardness and toughness compare to more useful metals and alloys like steel, mithril, aluminium and adamantine. The only thing it has is a natural resistance to corrosion and rust, but that's hardly an advantage - I mean, what are the Changelings or Griffons going to do, throw water at us? By they way, do you ponies know how often the armory get burglarized, because, well, the armor is made of BUCKING GOLD?!
Oh sure, the traditionalists would argue by reminding us of the obvious; the arcane enchantments that makes the thing lighter, tougher and more practical to use, but that brings along with it THEIR own problems. The spells are centuries out of date; they have enough energy to protect against arrows, swords, spears and your average magic missile, but that's only good if you're using it back in medieval Equestria. How well do you think it protects against weapons of the modern industrial age? You had seen the tests - one have these golden junk used as target for a griffon .357 magnum pistol, and the round punched RIGHT THROUGH the helmet, on BOTH SIDES. That's just from a PISTOL bullet. What about rifle rounds? Explosive shrapnel? Even against conventional firearms and explosives these armor might as well be toilet paper. Even magic-less ballistic armor used by soldiers of the minotaur city-states proved to be superior products.
Sure, you can amp up the amount of thaumatic energies in the enchantments till it can deflect even bullets, but do you ponies know how much of the Royal Guard equipment budget is used on re-charging the enchantments on the armor every year? 50%, that's how much, all to pay the mages and spell-casters and the mana-gems that maintains the spellweave. And it's all for jack if our theoretical enemy casts an anti-magic field, or deploy a magic-resistant attack monster, or magic-disrupting Nth-Metal chaff.
And don't get me started with the weapons - Spears? Swords? Bows-and-Arrows? Kite-shields? In an era with airships and trains and cruise ships?! How well do you think an arrow would do against a tank? a shield against a missile barrage? And what about our Royal Guard training? Our troops' poor security sense let Changeling infiltrators get all the way to Princess Cadence during the Wedding fiasco, and were curbstomped by an army of Changeling conscripts! And in other crises they ran around like headless chickens, showing no sense of organization or initiative. It's like our training is written by a sports-teacher and our ranks are filled with out-of-touch old timers and aristocrat soldier-brats who's only in it for fake prestige, which is EXACTLY what it is and could be!
Let's face it: our Royal Guard armor sucks, our weapons sucks, and our training sucks. This is what happened when we let ourselves get too complacent for over a thousand years. We can appreciate our Princesses wanting us to live in peace and harmony, but since when had the universe ever in any obligation to be in harmony with our ideals?
We were always surrounded on all sides by nations of predators and forests of monsters, not to mention the occasional ruthless tyrants and mad gods. And now that we had new threats, like mutant cockatrices, Everfree monsters and Changelings popping up left, right and center, how long before our national heroes fails and one of them gets lucky?
We can no longer afford to be weak. This fact must be made apparent to our dear Princesses when we present our proposal to modernize and expand the military, and with all due haste; any delay would be too costly."

Isn't that basically just color-alteration? 'Cause anyone can do that with the original SVG quite easily.

I haven't made one, but I don't think it would be that different, just resize and move a few things.

The deadly flaw of cannon and most non-cannon pony armor: No belly armor. Remember the core rule of armor design: It does not matter how much armor you have if it is in the wrong place. Earth ponies and Pegasi get up on their hind hooves when attacking exposing their belly (which have no protection on most pony armor)

For one, I think this is mostly ceremonial. Think about it - it's impractical (like you said), bulky and obsolete with the current level of technology.
Not to mention it's golden. That means it's either painted, electroplated (but that's unlikely) or made out of an alloy that has this color. And when you think about that, those are usually much less sturdy than their steel-like counterpart.
I think it's on the same kind of level as a police uniform is - it's iconic, easily noticeable and probably doesn't restrict your movement that much. And it can provide some protection.
But yeah, definitely impractical for prolonged combat.

True, but then again, nor have we really seen a regular army. Just Royal Guard, but that's only peace keepers. Which would be because we haven't really seen any large scale conflict. Even a crisis like Sombra or Discord didn't provoke any actual army to act.
Still, the technology is there. Maybe it needs the specific direction to apply the knowledge, but it's there. There's petrochemical industry, gunpowder, pretty advanced metallurgy and even more possibilities with magic.
I'd say Equestria's been too peaceful for too long. It's completely unprepared for any kind of conflict. Just look at the abysmal crisis management - there wasn't even a response to Trixie's occupation of Ponyville.
