Description
The Ophisuchus, a Cretaceous Dragon surrounded by dinosaurs!
Commission by ImperatorDavianus ...the last dragon sadly!
All the dragons were part of his book Valdarich's Dragonology
He also provided a cool description in Anglo-Saxon English (aka old English), called the Sagas of Valdarich you can see it below the translation.
Modern English
A philosopher from the land of the Romans arrive along with me on my mission. We have walk on a dirt path he spotted old bones in case on rock. He spoke that they look ancient. From a time long before man. An ancient world where beast and monsters thrive

Scientific History
Late Cretaceous Europe 70 million years ago. Two great reptiles, Ophisuchus and an Abelisaur fight over the carcass of a dead titanosaur in the fern forest.
The atmosphere of the land was hot, humid and undaunting. Where, survival is key to every prehistoric species. Here even the prehistoric Dragons are prey. These early ancestors of the dragons don't breathe fires or even produce wings. They are ground dwelling reptiles that solely rely on brute strength alone. Though heavyset in appearance, Ophisuchus is one such dragon that only have to resort to ambush tactics. With it's body covered in osteoderms and spiky scutes to protect it from attacks from other deadlier predatory species. Its horns on its head are primarily for defensive purposes, unlike its medieval descendants that only show them for display. Study concluded that it may have had venomous saliva similar to Gila Monsters and Komodo Dragons leaving us to examine that Dragons in general are distant cousins of the Lepidosauria that somehow branched off during the Permian or Triassic periods. Being approximately 30 ft in length and weighing about 3 to 5 tonnes. This large quadrupedal reptile has some flaws. Due too it's weight and size would have to live near water. As fossils of this said species was found to have water plants and fishes. Suspected that it may live in an identical manner of water monitor lizards only to ambush much larger prey if need be, with more evidence pointing that its main diet was primarily large turtles, rays and fish. If they do come across large terrestrial prey. It'll lie in waiting in a heavily vegetated area and attack by biting its prey with its venomous saliva until the prey succumbs to death. However evidence may have pointed out that they come into conflict with much dangerous predators, presumably giant Crocodylomorphs and Abelisaurs where scars found on Ophisuchus fossils indicate that they were either attacked or killed by much larger ones even against their own kind. The Ophisuchus drakes went extinct 65 million years ago in the early Paleocene epoch. Just a million years shy from the asteroid impact. However due too their primitive attributes they could not keep up with their small flying cousins
