Description SUPERGIRL (1984)
I remember seeing this film as a kindergartener. I was mesmerized by Helen Slater's performance and how awesome she looked as Supergirl. I had such a crush on her. Perfect casting, but the film was not what I wished it could be. Her friend at the school, Lois Lane's younger sister, Lucy Lane (Maureen Teefy), was great, and so was Jimmy Olsen (Marc McClure). Faye Dunnaway and Peter O'Toole were amazing as well. The acting was fantastic, but the script just had so much potential for more. I wanted a sequel just to see Helen as Supergirl again. I was beside myself with joy to see her alongside Superman, even for a second, in The Flash film.
I really wished Superman could have made an appearance in Supergirl. I wish a villain I was familiar with in the Superman mythos was her villain in the film. I still believe her performance is so drastically underrated that it is criminal. I was so happy to see Helen Slater be a part of Supergirl the TV series, which was such a great series.
Although the series was magnificent, Helen Slater will always be the best Supergirl to me!
