In my searches for sprites on the internet, I continually see this type of bead art being used to recreate them. It's actually sort of piqued my interest now that I've seen so much of it; where exactly would I be able to get the materials to start doing this kind of thing?

The beads are called Perler. You can find everything you need to start here. [link]
You first, obviously, need beads. There's about 55 different colors in the Perler pallet [link]
Then you need something to line them up on, peg boards. I highly recommend clear peg boards because they're much more sturdy and don't warp like the colored ones when ironing. [link]
Finally, you need a special kind of wax paper. Usually peg boards come with small sheets of ironing paper, but I always get big sheets [link]
