well, what kills me is practice, even if I'm in Art School. You're right about color pencils, but when working with oil colors for example you can repaint over and over again and I still don't like it XD . Its all about mixing the color whether it is color pencils watercolor or pasty colors. That's one point which can be resolved with some tutorials, I think XD. Then there is the "light-shadow game" to form the shape and volume, that's the hardest part, at least for me. OMG, I think this is the second longest comm I've made XD sorry about that

WOW you're in art school?! That is so impressive!! I am completely hopeless at painting, so photoshop is my best friend there, but it's still not quite the same. xD I used to take art in school, and I was (still am) hopeless at mixing colors to get a desired one~

I wish I knew PS at least a bit, I'm suppose to take lessons at school, but lets just say that our teacher forgot about the painting process XD My friend showed me some steps but without a tablet its too hard, drawing/ painting with mouse is suicide XD

LOL I use the mouse, so I can't do everything at one go, I usually just PS for an hour a day for relaxation! Not everyday though, and it's not too great either. xD
I want a tablet toooo. ;_; It would make everything tons easier!
