So here we are again. It's 10:45 in the evening, far too late for my aging eyes to still be up, and my brother and I are in the middle of the bedroom floor, on our backs, staring idly at the plain white ceiling above us. Our stepfather walks in on us a few times, expecting us to be doing something interesting, but, I swear to God, you two, he throws at us with cautiously inquiring looks, you look like you're drunk right now, you could be.
Isn't that funny, I question to my brother, after the adult unit has left the room.
He doesn't get it.
I tell him: We're annoyingly straight-edge.
