This is a Diwali Greeting Card. Its especially created and designed for the Diwali Festival which is largely celebrated in India (in month of October or November). In this card.. I have lighted TOTAL of 101 Diyas (earthen pot lamps) for Goddess Lakshmi. Its one of my various ways to show her my love and devotion towards her. ~ Its the way I express my feelings to receive her blessings for me, for my family and to my dear friends here and everywhere. ~

I would like to give some information about Diwali festival which happens to be in the month of October or November. This time it started on 3rd November and would end on 10th November. Every day has a special meaning and occasion in this period. Its a holy festival of colors, lights, sweets, blessings, happiness, luck and joy. We greet "Happy Diwali" or "Shubh Dipavali" to our friends and relatives. It is performed by worshiping and offering services to the God and Goddess. Mainly Goddess Lakshmi and God Ganesha are worshiped for the well-being of the family and life. The homes are decorated with flowers and garlands along with the attractive and enchanting lighting decorations. We write "Shubh Laabh" with "vermilion" on Entrance Door. "Shubh Laabh" means "Auspicious Profit". Special "Diyas" (earthen pot lamps which work on oil) are lighted near doors and windows. A huge fancy lantern is hanged on the windows. India sees varieties of Diyas and Lanterns for sale during this season. They come in different shapes and designs and with numerous colors and style. People show there happiness and joy by cracking fireworks and crackers. Its indeed sad that some people get too much carried away with the fireworks and crackers that results into Noise and Air Pollution. Its a great concern for all of us and people are continuously made aware about it. Apart from this, Its like fun and fair to all of us over here. I personally don't enjoy burning crackers and cracking fireworks. We cook home-made snacks and sweets which is normally and mainly made for the Diwali season only. People mostly relish on this food. The sweets and snacks are exchanged among friends and relatives along with several attractive gifts and pleasantries. Its a season where LOVE is shared by expressing it with gifts. People from foreign countries come to visit India in this season especially to enjoy the glory of this festival.
