Just be careful, lightning is a danger, even if the clouds are up to a mile away!!!

I love storms, even the nasty ones - but only from a distance ...
A few years ago we had a rare (for DC) tornado come within 3 miles of our house before virtually destroying a town called La Plata to the east of us ... Part of me was wincing at the damage, but the awe of the sheer power involved still knocks me back too.
Glad to hear it's passed you by and everything went OK!

Oh hell ... I remember the F5, but I got to "see" it third hand as well. There was a TV documentary crew doing a segment with OKC Fire/Rescue at the time, and so they ended up going out with all the responders, the footage got made into a full show for Discovery ot Weather Channel or some such, and it was ...
Well, you know.
It also restored my faith in human kindness too, though, watching how people were looking out for each other and jumping in to help without a second thought.
I remember most this one part, the ambulance couldn't get closer to one of the worst hit neighbourhoods, but someone (civilian resident) had a 4x4 pickup, and so the medics set up a triage staging area as close as they could and the guy in the pickup went in time and again to bring people out for treatment and transport.
Say what you like about how people have gotten so selfish and cold-hearted in recent years, it's times like that you get to see true hearts.
Sorry for the ramble, call it relief you made it and still have power
