I cannot quite figure out what it is, but this as well as your previous submission seems different to me from your other submissions.
The rest of your gallery look real great and nice and all. But these two newest submissions of Applejack and Rarity seem special and more intriguing, somehow. (It really bugs me that I cannot figure out what causes this.)
Anyway, great work, and hope to see more, especially of this caliber.

I think You`re right - maybe because they are looking more mature(?) and they are looking straight at us? hmmmm
I must say that I really enjoyed painting those two ponies ( +my last Vinyl).

When looking at these two drawings, it made me feel to a degree that I could not quite explain or justify. The eye-contact and them looking more mature are definitely part of these drawings' great appeal, but I had already considered these things, and it was not what I was missing...
But after reading your reply, I thought about it some more. And I finally realized what was making my impression of these drawings stronger than I could explain. Turns out it was the shoulders, which give off a very feminine and coy impression. For Rarity it is a coquettish coyness, while for Applejack it seems more of a shy, modest and reserved coyness. This was a piece of body language that I could subconsciously feel was there, but until now not consciously pinpoint.
Come to think of it, I have not seen that particular kind of body language used in any of the art I watch here on DA, in as powerful a way as in these two drawings. Which is also why this is the first time I am consciously considering and acknowledging its presence. So well executed by you on that front.
But of course, that is not the only great thing about these two drawings. Aside from the maturity and eye-contact; there is also the way AJ is raising her hoof and slightly touching her face, which emphasizes her mood, while also being a very sensual gesture; how she has turned her head and attention to that of the viewer, which makes a very strong and personal impact, drawing the viewer in; and how her turned head has twisted her hair in a dynamic way, which, on top of her ribbon starting to come loose, is hinting that, at any moment, a draft could release her pent-up locks to freely flare up wildly and beautifully, which is an exciting and enthralling prospect, while also being very fitting and becoming for Applejack's character and personality.
And that is only considering AJ. Compared to the drawing of Rarity, this one of AJ is kind of simple, where the one of Rarity has more going for it, while also being more experimental with her character and look.
Not to mention that you drew both of these exquisitely so, which only strengthens all of their allure.
It is rare for me to not be able to explain my feelings, but now my mind is once again at ease, and I can appreciate these two drawings even more. And that feels pretty gosh darn good.
