Thank you sooo much!!! It's a really smart design and a lot easier than I thought it would be. I've already made one but I need to work on the shaping somewhat. Also, I think I need to use thicker paper.

I do have a question about Step 22 to 23. It looks like you do something to the tail but it's not really in the diagram. Again, THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!! Fantastic job!

Yes the part with the tail is a bit hard to explain. I'll try to get some additional photo or video instructions for them.

wow, amazing most people have no idea how hard origami is

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mitanei In reply to flarewolf98 [2011-05-31 23:42:35 +0000 UTC]

Thank you flarewolf98! You're right, origami isn't always easy, though this model might be simple to fold it took some research and knowledge to design. Also other models are rather difficult to fold so the best way to become good in origami is to practice over and over again.

So much character in such a simple design! amazing work, I'm in total awe of your skills to even figure out how to make these

mitanei In reply to Willow-Wyvern [2011-05-25 23:22:58 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much ThunderStruck-Fox! It was my intention to create a very simplistic yet recognizable model. Therefore I had a look at different fox photos and tried to detect the main features nad the pose I needed.

I love this fox. You have a lot of cool things in your gallery, but this is my favorite for some reason. It really has an air of coyness and realizm like a fox, even though it's so simple. Wonderful.

mitanei In reply to Tepperzart [2011-05-25 13:52:56 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much Tayday12! I'm very glad that you think so. It is one of my favorite models to fold and it is the the model I fold the most lately. It can be folded in a couple of minutes and it still has all features that makes people recognize it as a fox.

Zeralot [2011-05-25 09:47:29 +0000 UTC]

looks simple but is it? i've not heard of wet-folding before just now.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mitanei In reply to Zeralot [2011-05-25 12:21:54 +0000 UTC]

The idea of wet-folding is that you moisten the paper a little and then fold it while it is still moist. When it dries out the glue in the paper hardens again and the paper will hold it's current shape.

But yes, the model is quite simple and you don't need to wet-fold it. You can fold the base of the simple fox with basicly three folds.

Zeralot In reply to mitanei [2011-05-28 07:38:32 +0000 UTC]

interesting, i'll try that next time and see what happens.

have you ever tried folding with anything as thin as tissue paper? haven't tried it myself but i've seen some very detailed models that use it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

mitanei In reply to Zeralot [2011-05-29 21:02:31 +0000 UTC]

I folded with tissue paper before but i don't use it very much. It has a soft structure that can be hard to fold. You can combine it with foil paper or treat it with methyl cellulose to change it's folding ability.

Simplicity often yields lovely results; this is a prime example, adorably recognisable and very charming.

Thank you synconi! I think so too, simple models can still have a lot of character even if there are less details.
