So... Tell me, which one do you prefer?
The backstory I have in mind still isn't published yet. But he's son of a former Shinigami, much like ichigo, but his parents did tell him the truth and even trained him.

Oh yeah! I was forgetting! I've added hollowfication to his powers. Of course the Shigekuni doesn't know, I doubt he'd let someone with an unstable power like the hollowfication become a captain.
But again, like Mashiro he can stay for many hours in hollow state without even breaking a sweat. This comes out because of his personallity. He's more confident than even Byakuya and when it comes to need, he's as agressive as Kenpachi. He also is very addaptable, so even in situation where normal people would freak out he just goes with the flow and sees what happens next.
He always says that he lives the moment to build the future, so it doesn't matter what happens, he'll try his best to chand bad outcomes and potentialize good results.
Strong willed and very dependable he's like a lion (that coincidentally is the fifth zodiacal house), never backing off or lowering his head to anyone. Some people may say that he's rude, but it's because he respects life over anything and for knowing that not even gods are better than other beings that he never bows to anyone and get pissed off when someone thinks low of oneself or is underestimated he also despites when someone bows to him, even at formal occasions.
So, he's not strong minded because he is confident in his powers. He is strong because he is confident in everything.
