I personally am happiest these days with the one in the middle - just looks the most evil to me. Either way, I'm talking way too mcuh about these ányways but I'm kinda proud of them as they're 100% handpainted and not copy/paste jobs like most other transformer movie head designs out there. I'm a pompous ass, yeah.

I used Photoshop to paint 'em. No other software was used.

Oh yeah, I made a crappy animation with it to show that Welker's iconic voice would work with an overcomplex design in case anyone cares. [link]

I'm pretty sure that giving away my tricks won't hurt my career or anything as I want to get my lazy ass into movies, not illustration.

Besides, the Shocker's tutorial is a quick way to add details but just a quick one. If you want scratches etc. to look real, you'd have to paint them on your own instead of using that method.

I see, but your art really amazes me! It's like you're the movie designer of Transformers. I wonder if you will make some more and maybe you'll add the body parts too!

But I hope SoundWave won't be a car or something, I want him atleast as a ghettoblaster or something. Or a big old cassetebox, hmm.. I wonder how Laserbeak, Buzzsaw, Rumble and Ravage would look like. Also cassetes? Or maybe CDs haha. And maybe they will turn SoundWave into a big cybertronian cassete deck so he won't be small like Frenzy. Also the cassetes would be big as humans so his partners would have a nice size.

I think you can forget about SW being a tapedeck or ghettoblaster as the filmmakers didn't want to include mass-shifting (because it's unrealistic - but giant f*cking robots aren't?). Why the Allspark Cube mass-shifts (or size-shifts) is really beyond me - I have a theory though: The filmmakers are hypocrites and do what they want. If Michael Bay wants to paint his house green, it will be painted green - if he wants flames on Prime, Prime will have flames. Not wishing to rant though - at least Bay has the convicition and guts to say he wanted it that way instead of feeding fans bullshit like others on the team - that's cool and reasoning enough for me.

Either way, I think a van is cool for our uncharismatic Soundwave. Why? because it is uncharismatic (just like SW according to Hook), he could have a nice window-chest and lots of room for minions - a TV fan with a satellite dish is a great altmode IMHO. Sure, it doesn't look hot or iconic like the tapedeck but it works.

Now that the TFs can change altmodes on the fly, I think he should have a few different altmodes in a movie - if anyone, it should be the spy (I know that he's technically a communications officer ).

Personally, my biggest complaints about the movie were that:

1. The tank Decepticon was called Devastator...while the action figure of said Decepticon bares the name of Brawl.

2. There were too much humans and not a whole lot of the movie's title characters.

3. There should have been more of the fighting between Megatron and Starscream...not just, "You fail me yet again, Starscream.."

4: I REALLY didn't like how Megatron was portrayed in the movie. He wasn't the cold, calculating leader of the Decepticons I knew of growing up from the 80's and like the one from the Beast Wars (I know, technically, THAT Megatron was a power hungry Predacon who took the name for the fear factor it brought with it). Instead, they made Megs sound like a huge brutish thug.

Otherwise, the movie was awesome!

I especially loved Optimus Prime. His voice reprised by Peter Cullen as well as three of Prime's best lines:

"Freedom is the right of all sentient beings."
"Autobots: Transform and ROLL OUT!"
"One shall stand, one shall fall..."

Prime's speech about humanity got me into tears. It SO reflected his wise and noble nature.

The only other Transformer I really liked from the movie was Frenzy. He was so nuts!

So...yeah. Soundwave's gonna appear in the next movie! SWEET! Soundwave was my favorite from the G1 series.

Also, the Dinobots and the Constructicons are gonna be in the next one, too.

They sure as heck can paint 100 times better than me but I found some of their stuff to look way too messy as well - and why some guys couldn't look more like they once did is really beyond me. I mean, Spidey looks exactly the same all in all as well in the movies...

You're really right, their disigns should've looked like G1 characters more. Movie was dissapointing in many ways for me. Soundwave and Shockwave should be included also.

The right one has the faceplate more like the toy (the little extra v in the middle of it) - I did this because people asked me nicely so harm done IMO. The other one is still there and IMO better as well.
