Kaylin knew she had to get back to Jackson – find a way to revive him – so that he could reveal the final secret of the Key. Again she released her powers, trying to find the crack that would permit her to move backwards through time once again.

Her Boreas found it first. Tiny, but it shimmered in the darkness of the crumbling world with an unworldly light only her powers could see. Slipping a knife-thin edge of her Zephyr into the crack, Kaylin twisted her Zephyr, forcing the almost collapsed gate open one last time. She only had one chance at this, so she couldn't mess it up.

Forcing the Light Train through the crumbling gap, she could feel theTrain's light dim. What was happening?

"Don't think you were going to get away so easy, Lexi!" Darus growled dangerously. Again he stabbed the Light Train, causing it to dim further. The Train shuddered, throwing Kaylin from the ruined mess as Darus stabbed again and again.

Lexi… Kaylin felt something familiar at the name, something that felt right this time. Yes! She was Lexi; and that was her sword! Kaylin/Lexi lunged at Darus, forcing her Eurus between them, calling to the blade with her Zephyr's song.

Darus struggled to keep hold of the blade, grunting his frustration, sweat beading his forehead, the first signs of true fear showing in his eyes. He wrapped his Zephyr around the sword, surrounding it as he sang it's song.

Behind her, Lexi's Boreas sought out Jackson, humming along throughout the ruins with the melody of her Zephyr. The sword vibrated, caught between the songs of the dueling Zephyrs, her Eurus still binding Darus, ad lending it's voice to the song.

The sword rose, gleaming into the air, still trembling from the song. As Lexi reached for it, wrapping her fingers familiarly around the pommel, the sword gave one last shudder, shedding it's skin, revealing it's true nature. The Key gleamed as her Notus gave voice, silencing Darus' angry Zephyr.
"Kaylin?" called a voice behind her. As Lexi turned, Darus leapt forward, snatching the Key from her still outstretched hand, his laughter bouncing off the crumbling buildings and the Train wreck beside them.
