Warhammer 40k is a tabletop game, which is pretty widely known. If that helps . The point is to end the battle with more assets "points" than the other people playing. You do this by destroying enemies and taking/holding objectives.

You get bonuses to armor or something for cover?

The only thing in this shot is the lack of color variety. It looks like the walls and structures are very close to the Frame colors. So there are no dynamic contrasts or anything to give the scene more depth.

Can you play with a bum rush tactic?

Something like that.

Yeah I haven't been working on a lot of terrain yet.

I love me some Battletech (and heroclix, mechwarrior, 40k, or anything else that tabletop geeks will play with me).

I still don't get how you get the rules if not by baking the project at Kickstarter. Is there another way?
Nice photo and nice scenario btw!

The rulebook is still in editing. It should be available by the end of July!

Ah, I see you're a big fan of the Giant Icosahedron of Doom too. That's a pretty good solution for the Doomsday Counter. (I use mine for contested rolls and startling players. It does start to take a toll on tables, though.)

MittenNinja In reply to TankaaKumawani [2012-06-26 13:09:26 +0000 UTC]

It does take a toll on tables after awhile. But it does make a wonderful Doomsday Clock for MFZ!

The 30mm dice I bought for a friend got field-tested in a game of House Tekk at AnCon...being readable at 2m away is surprisingly useful.

Are those lego Tau?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MittenNinja In reply to jLundhArt [2012-06-26 12:45:48 +0000 UTC]

Nope, they're members of the Serpent Legion, which is a faction of the UMFL.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jLundhArt In reply to MittenNinja [2012-06-26 12:59:29 +0000 UTC]

That doesn't really tell me much, but ok

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MittenNinja In reply to jLundhArt [2012-06-26 13:04:40 +0000 UTC]

They're part of a faction set in the Mobile Frame Zero universe. Which is what this game is!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jLundhArt In reply to MittenNinja [2012-06-26 13:32:09 +0000 UTC]

Ok, then I got it. Looked really like the Tau mecha suits from Warhammer 40k is all

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MittenNinja In reply to jLundhArt [2012-06-26 13:44:09 +0000 UTC]

Absolutely. The Tan guys are heavily influenced by Heavy Gear but with the scale and the way the lego looks, they definitely have a similar vibe to the tau.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jLundhArt In reply to MittenNinja [2012-06-26 14:01:08 +0000 UTC]

I was quite into 40K as a teenager. Started of with the Tyranids, but quickly moved on to the Tau.
Never played it though, I was only in it for the assembly, painting and backstories of the different characters and races
Painted some pretty sick pieces in my days actually. Wish I still had some to take pictures of

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MittenNinja In reply to jLundhArt [2012-06-26 14:29:47 +0000 UTC]

I played 40k a little, but I never got the models (me and my friends were "broke college students") so we played with proxys. Warhammer is just too friggin expensive. One of the reasons I love Mobile Frame Zero so much

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jLundhArt In reply to MittenNinja [2012-06-26 14:41:30 +0000 UTC]

It IS expensive. I can understand the appeal of MFZ. Is there any restrictions on what kind of 'frames' you can make? Like you follow a framework or something, or is it all up to the maker?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MittenNinja In reply to jLundhArt [2012-06-26 14:46:47 +0000 UTC]

You can make pretty much anything you want, they dont even have to be mechs! You can do vehicles, infantry, helicopters, etc. The stats are not based on the specific frame build so your really have free reign to completely customize your company.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jLundhArt In reply to MittenNinja [2012-06-26 14:55:15 +0000 UTC]

What about size? Are there any size restrictions. Or could one make something in the likes of [link] ?

Daaaaw, this makes me wish I still had my brother's Lego collection still laying around.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MittenNinja In reply to jLundhArt [2012-06-26 14:59:48 +0000 UTC]

There isn't anything stopping you from building something that large, but It wont have any advantage over something 7 bricks tall. In fact, it'll probably be worse since it'll be in range of almost everything on the table because of it's footprint.

Generally you want to keep your frames in the 6-9 brick tall range.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jLundhArt In reply to MittenNinja [2012-06-26 15:04:59 +0000 UTC]

Ok, that sounds pretty cool actually. What's the brick used for measurment? The regular 2x4 lego brick? [link]

Are you going to review a game in the future?
