Senka has the ability to manipulate shadows. She turns the shadows into "whips", and can leave anything from bruises, to welts, to cuts. She can also bind people in place with shadows, however this requires much concentration and effort, so she doesn't use this very often. As for defense, she creates walls of shadows to deflect attacks.
Her magic is very dependant on her emotions. She has to remain calm and composed to keep it under control. If her emotions go out of control, shadows lash out at everything around her. Her magic is at its peak when her emotions are at their highest. However, this is also when her magic is completely uncontrollable. This sudden burst of power drains her and leaves her extremely exhausted and weak.

Personality: No matter how a person looks at her, Senka seems to be more like a man in a woman's body. She's very gruff, blunt, cocky, and rude. She doesn't care how others see her. If she has an opinion, she will not hesitate to voice it. People tend to avoid her because of how unpleasant she is. She tends to scowl a lot.
Senka is very reluctant to trust anyone. It is also easy to lose her trust. She absolutely will not trust anyone who is not a native of REM, not even the Revenants of Insight. Those who she does trust see a different side to her than most. She's much more docile and even... Pleasant. Senka is much more willing to please. She may even go as far as to smile. She will not hesitate to jump into a fight to assist these people. Senka is also different around those she respects. She will show them respect and hold back snide remarks around them.
Senka absolutely despises Lucids. She believes they are the filth of her world, and as such, they need to be cleansed. Her preferred method is to eliminate them entirely. However, she will refrain from doing so if she's told not to. If she's told to simply break a Lucid's semblance, she likes to make it as painful for them as possible. She doesn't entirely despise Revenants, but she doesn't like them either.
For the most part, Senka is quite calm; she has to be. To some, she appears quite emotionless. Whenever she experiences a strong emotion, it tends to turn to anger. When her temper is rising, shadows swirl around her.
History: Senka was born in Nexus to a middle-class family. Her family is a long line of dark magic users. However, only the sons of the family were taught in the ways of magic. This was a problem, since Senka was an only child and her mother, for some reason, could not bear any more children. Her grandfather was the master of the family, and resented Senka for being a girl. He refused to teach her, even if it meant the family's magic dying. Her father was much more lenient. When she was 5, he secretly taught Senka the basics of shadow manipulation, and found she had great talent.
Her grandfather never showed any signs of accepting his granddaughter, instead, he seemed to resent her more and more. Senka, seeking his approval, began developing more boyish traits. She wrestled with the other boys her age, talked like them, kept her hair short, and even dressed like them. This did nothing to change her grandfather's views.
One day, while Senka was pleading with her grandfather to teach her, she became extremely angry with him. As her anger mounted, he sat there, sipping a glass of black tea and refusing her. Senka's father had always told her to keep a close watch on her emotions, as they controlled her magic. That day, she lost her temper and shadows lashed out at her grandfather. She decided to go with it, and swatted the tea out of his hand with one. Her grandfather looked suprised to see her using magic. She asked him once more to teach her. He studied her for a moment, and told her to show him what she could do. Her anger was replaced with suprise, then calm. She showed him everything she was capable of, and he seemed impressed. Finally, he agreed to teach her. Of course, he found out about Senka's father teaching her, and he was punished. But not severely; her grandfather was pleased with how talented Senka was, despite being a girl.
Senka trained with her grandfather for years, each day becoming more skilled and powerful. At the age of 20, she had learned all that her grandfather knew, and mastered most of his techniques, which took him years and years to master. She was, without a doubt, a prodigy.
Around this time, she began hearing of a group called Trance. Now, she knew of the Lucids, and what people thought they were doing to the world. Yes, she saw the changes around Nexus, but she didn't blame the Lucids. She thought it wasn't their fault they were there. From what she gathered, Trance wanted to make the Lucids more comfortable in REM. She decided to join Trance. She figured, well, it's not the Lucid's faults they're there, nor are the problems their faults directly.
Senka bid her family farewell and thanked her grandfather for everything. He disapproved of her leaving, but he allowed it. He gave her a necklace that had once been her late grandmother's and wished her well.
Senka found she liked Trance, despite many members not liking her. There was one member, a Lucid, who she became quite close to. Fondess turned to liking, liking to love. The man, Andrew, seemed to return her affections. They soon became a couple. Many of the other members told Senka not to trust him, but she ignored them, saying they didn't know him like she did. She trusted him entirely.
Senka eventually found out just how right the others were. She and Andrew were in an area quite heavily populated by Terrors. They ran into a group of them, and immediately Andrew ran up a tree. Senka, not near as fast as him, was trapped by the Terrors. The Terrors completely ignored Andrew, even as she called to him for help. He watched for a minute, then smiled. "Thanks for the distraction, love," he said as he leapt out of the tree and ran to safety. Senka stood, shocked and hurt. She couldn't believe he just abandoned her like that. A blow from a Terror brought her back to her current dilemma. All of the shock and hurt turned to rage, and it was this that saved her. Her magic went wildly out of control and killed all of the Terrors, even those more powerful than herself.
When Senka finally stumbled back to the Trance base, on the verge of collapsing, she found Andrew, completely unharmed, weaving a tale about how Senka had sacrificed herself for him. As he ended his story with a dramatic gesture of wiping a tear away, he was knocked back by one of Senka's shadow whips. Andrew looked shocked to see her, at first, then afraid as he saw the shadows swirling around Senka. A stronger member held her back as she fought to get to Andrew. When she finally calmed down, she glared at Andrew one last time, and walked out. She immediately withdrew from Trance.
The 23-year-old woman had heard of Insight, and previously thought their views to be rediculous. Senka now thought they were right. Terrors were not the biggest problem in REM. Lucids were. And they needed to be purged from this world.
Senka sought out Insight and joined them. She never regretted this, feeling this is where she truely belongs. Today, she is a fiercely loyal member, and will do anything possible to assist in removing the scourge known as Lucids from REM.
