This reminds me of a treat my mom taught me to make when I was little! We filled a jug with water and lots of sugar, and sometimes food colouring, then we'd tie a long string to a popsicle stick, and lay that over the centre of the jug so the string dangled into the water. After a day or two, all the sugar had cystalized onto the string!
