Poser... this thing is useful in making a commercial viz, not artwork...
nevertheless - textures and colours are pretty good

heh, I hadn't explain my thought well.

"High tech version of those old, wooden artists' mannequins" - I use pre-made human models often this way, sometimes I test the perspective with scenery made of simple 3D shapes. I had treated this image as a typical 3d render (wrongly) - the good wireframe and anatomy are hard to achieve and important part of such

sorry for posting without reflection

Not a worry Equally my bad for not sticking this in mixed media. I just didn't think it over much at the time. If I rendered it to begin with, and didn't redraw it from scratch, I regard it as 3D in my head hehe

Poser's good at being what it is and for that price tag you'll never hear me complain about it. Had I never bought it, I probably never would have been motivated to learn how to use Max and I'm starting to really enjoy this modeling thing

hmmm... Well, I'd rather not get into the whole Poser vs more feature-rich 3D applications debate. It's old, tired and I don't play "more artful than thou". However, the program isn't worthy of this level of ire that one would make comment only to say it's no good for art.

In fact, it's extremely useful for artwork. It provides an endless source of custom reference material for paintings... and the models never complain or want to be paid afterwards I bought it, originally, to behave as a high tech version of those old, wooden artists' mannequins and it does the job beautifully. I know that's not what you meant, but you made a broad (and incorrect) generalisation there.

I'd point out too, the description says Poser *and* 3D Studio Max were used... or does the "P" word taint everything it touches? hehe
In any case thanks, I'll take "pretty good" on an 8 year old piece any day

Still one of my all time favorites! Simply beautiful!

p.s. I'm not really "surprised" as the icon indicates, I really just like the little smiley guy.

3D Studio Max is a 3D modeling program and Poser is for 3D character animation. T'is a CG thing. Thanks
