Yep yep, I use Photoshop for everything. I'm useless with real pencils and traditional media in general... lol.

You mean how I draw outlines in Photoshop, right? It's always the brush tool, around 3 or 4 pixels. I have a tablet so the pressure sensitivity determines how bold the lines are. I don't know how the vector tools work (the actual pen tool I think it is?) but I hear it's good for line work too. But I also hear it's hard to master and leaves little room for line thickness and opacity... I think those are the only good PS options. On the other hand, Macromedia Flash is good for linework too! I know some people use that for their lineart.

Yes, try Flash! It's really quite good for crisp lines.

Oh, pffff! That's totally okay! Ask me whatever you need, I do want to help!

Let's see, shadows? You mean shading, right? There's a lot of different ways to do it, and it depends on the image and what you want to do. In this case I cel-shaded. I picked a dark color (not black) and lowered the layer opacity, then just used to the brush tool to add the shading. The shading layer has to be above the base colors! So make sure to paint the basic colors first. You might want to have more than one shading layer too, to have different levels of shading on an object.

But I must stress to not use black (or grey) for shading, cause it really makes the colors look flat!! You can try going for dark brown or dark purple even. Try changing the layer properties to Multiply too, as that can make it look better as well, though try toggling the opacity then too as it can look too dark otherwise.

I hope that wasn't hard to understand... I'm really quite bad at explaining things after all, lol. If you want me to be more specific I can try again. But yeah, there's a lot of different ways about it. I wrote a guide to another coloring style I use sometimes, which you can find here: [link] XD The principle is still the same, though! Maybe that'll be more helpful... Oh, and knowing some color theory helps too!

Oh man, there are just so many things I just have to draw (for my mental well-being). I definitely wanna draw more Bardock, but I also wanna get to my challenge and the meme done!! Now that the art block's gone I gotta attempt that last one again!

You know, I just don't get Saiyan biology. I mean--- they eat massive amounts of food and gain no weight; they have enough power to destroy planets but look skinny as hell; their hair doesn't grow; they age slowly; they can change their hair and eye color when they power up, and even their hair length; they increase in power when brought back from the brink of death... And just about a billion other random things! Nevermind the tail/Oozaru business... I mean, these are really weird plot devices, when you think about it.

I don't even wanna think about how much they gotta physically eat to survive. No wonder that guy munched right through the special - he'd probably die if he stopped! I guess Saiyan bellies are just really high-maintenance.

Ow man, my head hurts after thinking about all of that. The weight thing is probably one of the weirdest. Goku weights 62 kg, according to the Super Exciting Guide: Character Volume. I mean, not even mentioning all the food he eats, how is it possible for so muscular body to weight only 62 kg? O__O

Maybe this is the reason Saiyans started to conquer planets in the first place; the lack of food. Not the fighting mania. If their energy consumption is so huge, they must eat all the aliens they kill only to survive 'til they reach the next conquerable planet.

Well, if the filler about Tsufuruians counts, Saiyans had very little time for their job as space pirates. But I like to think that Freeza was on the control only a few years since he only in the Bardock movie noticed how their power was increasing by every battle. And that would also explain why Saiyans weren't all THAT strong (compared to Freeza): they hadn't been conquering planets and thus fighting long enough.
Maybe they before that fought each other and that's why they were "few in number" as Raditz said.

What I got from the special was that Freeza noticed that stronger and stronger Saiyans were being born, like Vegeta. I'm sure he knew they got stronger with fights and things, and he feared if they got together they'd overthrow him... but I thought the spark to finally destroy the planet was the huge boom in strong baby Saiyans being born... And so the bigger chance in Super Saiyans and things? *wants to rewatch the special and everything grrr* God, I am such a crappy fan, hahah. It's embarrassing...

Oh yeah, I was gonna ask: the Tsufuru-jin stuff is anime-only filler, right? Or was it included somewhere in the manga that I don't know about...?

But that Raditz quote would make a lot of sense...! Yeah, I think before Freeza arrived the Saiyans didn't quite have the technology to be space pirates, so they fought each other! Hell, that makes way too much sense. Tribal wars style stuff right there... lolol. .__." Well, they're very rash people...

Don't lose the faith! I don't really even take those guidebooks so seriously XDD I think he really weights 80-90 kilos.
I mean, those books say that Goten is 7 years old in the age 774. And the Cell Games was held in late May of age 767, and the Tenkaichi Budoukai of Buu arc is in early May. So unless the Buu arc -Tenkaichi Budoukai was held in 775 or unless Goten is born earlier than when the Cell Games was held without Goku never being aware of it, he should be 6 years old in Buu arc
That gives me a headhache every time I think about it.

Did it say somewhere that there were being born stronger Saiyans? O_O Geez, now I need to watch that movie, too.

Yeah, Tsufuru-jins are filler only, if I'm not wrong.

Only way I can explain Goten's age is that Goku was dead almost eight years but it had still been only seven full years. Maybe that's how it is since in the manga it doesn't say anywhere it wouldn't be year 775 when Goten was first introduced.

Ah, now I found the scene. It seems that they first get to know that Planet Kanassa had been conquered sooner than expected. They conversation goes like this:
Dodoria: Who was it we sent to take over Kanassa?
Zarbon: Some nameless lower-class Saiyan warriors.
Freeza: Saiyans?
D: These latest guys have been working pretty hard, don't you think?
Z: There's certainly something remarkable about them.
D: Particularly when it comes to Vegeta, their prince, with whom Freeza-sama has taken such an interest. I can hardly believe a like that has such a battle power.
Z: It's more than just him. Individually, there's nothing special about them, but when they team up, they demonstrate incredible power.

And then he says that if Saiyans team up, it'd cause a lotta trouble for them and you never know when another Saiyan like Vegeta shows up. So, kinda he did hint that Saiyans were being born stronger than before.

I'm not sure if those translations are exactly right. I only have the English subtitles of the Japanese version that I downloaded from internet. I can't speak Japanese, so I can't tell for sure. But at least the same translations have been used in some fics and comics.
I'd buy the movie but they don't sell DB movies here. And those bought from American online stores or from anywhere that's not European won't work on our PS3. Damn it.

The best way to escape from Goten confusion is just ignoring it or to think that Daizenshuu dates are wrong.

Hey I found it!! I found where I got that birth thing from! ...Man, it wasn't the special at all... it was the series itself!

Right before Vegeta kills him, Dodoria tells him that Freeza destroyed his planet, right? To quote the English version of the manga:

Dodoria: "Among a small percentage of Saiyans... exceptional warriors such as you began to be born... and were increasing their numbers...
M-Master Freeza feared that if they were to begin taking power, they wouldn't take orders as the Saiyans always had. He decided it was time to take measures..."

Aaaannnd... I just checked in DB Kai, and he says the exact same thing there too. But oh man! I thought I'd gone crazy there! @__@ I'm still retarded for thinking that came from the special though. What the crap, lol.

I'm gonna stop thinking about Goten now.. yup...

But hey! I thought the PS3 was region free! Is that only for games or something? Weird...

Yeah, the censoring it annoying, but I hear that's just the TV version. The DVD/Blu-ray releases apparently are uncensored... Though I don't know for sure. The fansub group I was/will work with is gonna sub the Blu-ray releases so I'll compare when those come out!
But I really like how fast Kai is going anyway~ The filler stuff I can take, but the slooooow slooooow sloooooowwwwwwww later episodes give me such a headache...!! I seriously can't wait for the Cell/Buu Sagas for that reason. Sheeshash.

And you're right about Kai when you're saying it's fast. I can't believe it's been less than 30 episodes and the Ginyuu forces have already arrived. The original anime was still in the Vegeta and Nappa point by then.

And about that, I watched the latest episode >XDDD Lol Ginyuu and company were even more credible than usual with that theme ... until those roses come.
