"Bob, I brought home pizza!" I set down the magazine I had been reading, Rolling Stone, on the glass coffee table and climbed off of the worn-out leather couch.  Despite Mikey's almost daily complaints about it, neither of us could handle getting rid of it.  It was the first piece of furniture we had bought as a couple, and it just held so many memories for us.

"Hey there, babe." I mumbled, attempting to avoid the large pizza box while leaning in to kiss him.

A small smirk covered his face as I pulled away.  "Aww, you beat me to the punch." I grabbed the pizza box from him and brought it to our small dining room; we hadn't felt the need to get an apartment with a large one when it was just us two.

"What did I beat you to?" I asked, setting it down on the equally small, wooden table.  I quietly gathered plates and sat down, waiting for Mikey to pull off his coat and get more comfortable.  Even though we were an unconventional couple, we enjoyed more traditional environments.  We felt that so many families were breaking apart due to technology, so whenever Mikey got off from work, we would sit down at the dinner table, eat, and talk about our days.  It was a simple gesture, but we both felt there was a more intimate connection this way.

"Well, I was going to say, 'I hope you know CPR, because you just took my breath away.' but you just had to go and greet me first, didn't you?" he called from the other room, I'm not sure which one, causing me to stop in the middle of my movement, which was filling his plate with a slice of pepperoni.

"Michael Way, did you just use a pick up line on me?" I asked, trying not to laugh.

Suddenly, I felt hands resting on my shoulders, and his breath against my ear.  "It was how we met, was it not?" he whispered, causing chills down my spine.  He seemed like such a subtle, shy man.  It was honestly astonishing how bold he was.

Mikey sat down across the table from me and gave a wink.  "Shall we?"

Four Years Ago
I stared at my almost empty glass of bourbon, debating on whether I wanted to keep drowning my sorrows or not.  I gently lifted up the glass and threw back my head, downing the rest of the liquid; fuck my sorrows.

I firmly set back down the glass and waved for the bar-tender to give me another one.  He in return gave me a questioning look, but shrugged.

"Whiskey, please." A lanky man called, taking the seat beside me.  The bartender set both of our drinks in front of us before leaving for the other side of the bar.

"Do you have a map?  I just keep getting lost in your eyes." I almost spat out my drink as I looked over at the man who had decided to sit next to me, a confused and surprised expression upon my face.  His was completely calm as he drank his, almost as if he had never said anything at all.  I almost decided to say nothing, in case I had heard him wrong, but I decided I should.

"Um, excuse me?" I asked cautiously, just in case I was wrong.  He didn't seem like that type.

The stranger set down his drink, a grin forming on his face.  He did have a rather nice smile, I had to admit, but I quickly pushed that thought to the side; I couldn't think that about some guy who had just used a pick up line on me.  Especially since Ray and I had just broken up.  Damn Ray.  "I'm Mikey Way.  Nice to meet you," the grin never faltered as he held out a hand for me to shake.

"Did…did you just use a pick up line on me?" I didn't even know that people still used those, to be honest.

The man named Mikey nodded as if this was a natural thing to do.  "I did indeed, person I have yet to learn the name of." He moved his hand slightly, inviting me to shake it.  Unwillingly I did.

"Bob Bryar." Why would I even have been chosen?  Why not one of the dancers out there?  They seemed like the perfect candidates, not me.  "Why?"

"Ah, well, pick up lines are the best conversation starters." Mikey took a large swig of his whiskey.  I had forgotten that I had my own drink.

"No, why did you choose me?" I asked, still unbelieving of this kid.  He looked rather young to be in the bar to begin with, but it was probably just because he had a youthful face.  He seemed more like a kid brother than a man.

"You obviously just got dumped, so I thought maybe it'd cheer you up some." The grin was playing on his lips again, and I couldn't help but watch.  It really made him appear youthful, something which was oddly attractive.

"Yeah, I guess it did."  He was right.  I had forgotten about my sorrows.  We continued to talk the rest of the night, exchanged numbers, that whole deal.

"Why did you decide to talk to me that night, anyways?" I asked suddenly, finished off my second slice of pizza.

"If I remember correctly, you looked like you needed somebody to talk to, so I did." Mikey commented, wiping his mouth off with a napkin.

Just like then, his answer seemed a little off, but he had kept to the story, so it had to be.

I picked up the plates and brought them over to the sink to wash them while Mikey put away the leftovers.  As I was drying off my hands on the towel, he appeared out of nowhere and shoved me up against a wall.

"I also had a major thing for beards.  Still do." A lazy smile appeared on his face before he fiercely pressed his lips against mine.  I made a personal note to never shave my beard.  Ever.
