Description My new 'Avalon' series...

I have been reading 'The Mists of Avalon' again - I love that book/s! (and the movie too!)

I decided to go with the movie's placement of the halfmoon, though I was unsure myself from the book, if it was to be placed between and just above the center of the eyebrows or up on the forehead just below the hairline.... There seem to be ways to interpret both from the writings...

Essential places it was said that she could easily hide her moon though as she was veiled sometimes at Arthurs Court or if she placed her hair to hide it in a hairdo...

If placed in between her eyebrows she could hardly hide it no matter what she did?

anyway, this is my take on it..

I always thought it was more between the eyebrows, myself-- and I got the impression that it was turned on its side to truly resemble horns (it is called the horned moon after all). But perhaps I just have that image in my head because once (before reading the books) I saw a woman with a moon and stars tattooed on her forehead and the crescent was situated as I have described.

Oh yeah and another place in the book it stated that Morgaine could easily hide her mark when at Arthurs court as she was veiled sometimes or could place her hair that way (besides the fact that the colour faded with time if she didn't re-colour' it..

if placed between the brows she could hardly hide it no matter what she did?

I did too until I read the books again

some places it says that 'it was still visible just below her hairline (when braided around the head if you know what I mean, in the old medieval style)... that indicates below the hairline..

and another place it said that the making of it had burned her hair in her brows ? So honestly I don't know... and since he movie has the other way, I guess the author would have objected if they did it wrong?

Yeah, you're probably right... but I still think it's tilted the other way.

I guess we'll never know for sure unless we get to talk to the author
