I've wanted to try this style for a good long time now and when I mentioned it to Kingofsnake [link] he suggested I do some fanart of Ulala, because he thought I could make her uber sexy. Like she wasn't already
This is Ulala from Space Channel 5 Part 2. Done in Illustrator. Gradients suck.

I think you did a good job with the gradients. Last time I did vector work and gradients it looked ridiculous and utterly horrible. Good job.

Yeah, same for me, it was hard for me to do the gradient work. Pain in the arse, especially since the gradients in Illustrator don't have the light source wheel like Photoshop/ImageReady do. I cannot believe some of the things they messed up in the interface of Illustrator....they had the technology for AGES to add in the light source wheel...but no, "Make em type in a stupid number..." GRR ><
I've since gotten the hang of gradients. My secret: Type in numbers until I get what I need
