"Only the fierce shall live." is the motto of Autobot survivalist Wheelie.

For being a relatively young Transformer Wheelie has led an exceptionally rough life and it shows.

When the Autobot/Decepticon war spread Wheelie was abandoned by the society he was once a part of. Quickly learning he could only rely on himself for survival, Wheelie adopted a suspicious attitude and while being outwardly friendly he is always hesitant and cautious around those he meets looking for signs of treachery at every moment.

Once he believes he can trust someone, his loyalty is unshakeable to that being and he will do whatever it takes to protect and help them and he tends to inspire the same loyalty in even the most unlikely of beings he runs into.

This is most clearly shown when he was trapped on planet Quintessa and actually befriended a savage sharkticon known as Gnaw who joined the Autobot resistance movement when Wheelie did.

Quick to adapt to any situation or culture he finds, Wheelie even adopted the verse based speech pattern of a race of people on planet LV-117 that helped him survive being stranded there.

While his strength is below average for a transformer Wheelie possesses above average intelligence, stealth skills and incredible endurance which makes him a cunning and unpredictable foe in any situation. Because of his size and outwardly friendly manner most enemies underestimate Wheelie's true threat until it's too late for them to do anything about it.

For Wheelie I really wanted to emphasize his survivalist specialty so I decided to make him look as rusted and beat up as possible while exploring a thick jungle environment.

As much as I hated him on the original 1980s cartoon, I love his comic book version from the IDW comics that make him into a serious character instead of a jackass sidekick with a shrill voice.
