Description Inspired by Scandinavian folklore, Huldra or SkogsrΓ₯ is a beautiful but dangerous troll woman. She's the guardian of the forests and can grant boons to hunters who she favors although if you get on her bad side you just might dissapear for ever. She was also a highly sexual creature, stories are told about hunters or coalers who had affairs with her during their long periods in the woods. There is even to be found old legal documents about men being sentenced for having affairs with the Huldra.
She is always told to look as a very beautiful woman but she always has something that tells that she is a troll and not a human. In some parts of Scandinavia she has the tail of a cow, in others it's the bushy tail of a fox and sometimes the ears to. Where I grew up she was supposed to have a hollow back, like an old injured tree trunk.

I know the feeling. I've Always wondered if that hole is supposed to be just like dry wood, or rotten or something. Maybe you could house an owl or a family or squirrels in there though... nicer thought ^^

Damn nice work, you can find such creatures in the Swedish RPG game Dragons & Demons. Meeting them is a dangerous affair, those who are
unlucky may fall under a trance and become their servant until death. Even if one doesn't fall under their spell, they often have powerful guardians
which keeps the SkogsrΓ₯ safe. A past friend of mine had one of his characters raped by a SkogsrΓ₯, that character had fallen under its spell.

I had no idea there was a Swedish version of D&D. Shame on me I work at the SF-bookstore Β
if you are interested there is a really nice book about sexual relations with SkogsrΓ₯ and other creatures out from MalΓΆtrt fΓΆrlag.

Skargrubdamek In reply to mjorf [2014-03-08 16:00:51 +0000 UTC]

No harm done, I don't expect all to know that such a thing exists. That book does sound interesting, mostly due
to me having a strong interest in mythology and folklore.

Skargrubdamek In reply to Skargrubdamek [2014-03-08 22:56:53 +0000 UTC]

At first I didn't think much about it, but I feel that I have to mention it. Dragons & Demons isn't a Swedish D&D, but it's
own RPG game entirely. It is a mix of High/Low fantasy with heavy influences from Norse mythology and the works
of John Bauer. I have to say that I really love that RPG, mostly because it's allot freer than D&D when it comes
to classes.

That you didn't know about Dragons & Demons is understandable, it has to my memory never had an official English
translation (being only released in Sweden). I began to translate the main rulebook, mostly to have something to busy
myself with.Β
