Description
A lot of still life is "making do" with bad situations. In this case I realized that the enema bulb was too long to stand upright in the candleabra - so the obvious answer was to break from the prior two compositions. That also let me solve the problem of the lighting on the glass - I simply shifted the enema bulb around until the reflections of the lights looked about right. I always wonder how much of this kind of studio work is done the way I'm doing it here - lots of fiddling to try to overcome poor planning and screw-ups, rather than brilliantly previsualized constructions.

The scratchy-looking surface of the glass is a result of, um, scratches. As an experiment I lightly buffed the glass with some sandpaper, because I wondered what would happen. Now I know!
