Description
Ryu and Ken were outside of Master Gouken's temple sparring with each other. Suddenly, a portal opens which has arm bladed monsters coming out. The creatures attack both Ryu and Ken but the duo's skills proved to be more than a match for these terrifying abominations. Ryu demanded to know who these monsters were and why they have come to kill him and his friend. One of them said that they are known as Tarkatans, a vicious warrior race sent by the evil emperor Shao Kahn to invade Ryu and Ken's world.

A lightning bolt strikes from the sky which manifests in the form of a man wearing white karate clothes, a blue vest, a black belt and a bamboo hat. He addressed himself as Raiden, The God of Thunder. Raiden explains to Ryu and Ken that their realm is under the threat of being conquered by Shao Kahn and that they will have to enter into the tournament called Mortal Kombat which determines the fate of all realms. Ken was skeptical of this but Ryu believed Raiden and decided to take part in the Mortal Kombat tournament.

Raiden then teleports the heroes to the MK universe. There, they see several other kombatants in the competition. Raiden informs Ryu and Ken that the fate of their world is in their hands and they must succeed or their whole world is doomed. The Thunder God wishes them good luck before teleporting. Ryu and Ken are both determined to win the tournament no matter what.

The street fighters battle challenger after challenger, defeating each opponent they come up against with one deadlier than the last. Eventually, Ryu and Ken make it to the arena where the the final battle will be held at. Shao Kahn was impressed by the might and power both fighters has displayed and demanded that they both take him on. Ryu and Ken now must prepare themselves for the ultimate fight of their lives.
