Description As I said, I'm remaking old ocs for March. And I'm starting with one of my favourites, Flint. And yes his name is a pun on Flint and Steel from minecraft. It's from a roleplay I did with KamariaInked . They have a character who was the original best friend of Flint but she wasn't included in this because that character belongs to Kamaria. The roleplay was last year and the original Flint was really bad and cringy. He still is but I lessened the angst a bit. He still does have some but ya win some you lose some. I'll post the information for the art first than the bio since it's quite long. I should warn you, angst is ahead. And a disclaimer, I do not condone any violence or how he treats people. I've given him this personality to show a message in thee actual story so he shouldn't be a role model for people. God bless.

•personality

Flint isn’t the brightest person around. He’s average but has poor maths skills but for people who were around him, that’s normal. However, his English and comprehension skills are high because of his love for reading. But he is a quick thinker, able to come up with ideas and solutions at that exact moment. He’s a leader type, often leading his friends and others, even people he dislikes strongly. He does tend to not show any emotions while working with people he dislikes, just to get the job done.  He is very easily tricked though. If you told him gullible was written on the ceiling, he’d keep looking for it even if it wasn’t there and think he was stupid for not being able to see it. That’s why he’s easily manipulated and brought into toxic ‘friendships’. Because of that, he doesn’t like getting close with people and telling them things about him because he seems to get hurt every time. But he isn't innocent though, since he does hurt others though and is generally mean to them and others around them. Even though his experiences lead him to this and influence from others, he still had some choice to it and used it to take his anger out on others. He has a very short-temper and very little patience which makes it easy for him to get angry at others and normally with aggression. In the past, he tried to control it but he ended up giving up. He tends to be really submissive, obeying things without question to people who scare him or hold some power over him. People did take advantage of that when he was younger but that nature didn’t change.

•Team

  • Actioner

•Appearance

  • He has light castleton green hair with a lighter green, often kind of messy looking but styled in a way. He’s quite short, mainly because of his mother’s side of the family, as seen compared with Crystal because they are a similar height. He has fair skin and chestnut brown eyes. He had burn marks all over his back after attempting to use his powers with Ryley and also has some faint scars over his body and one over his nose. He doesn’t look that intimidating but his resting face normally looks like he wants to hurt you and wouldn’t care about how he did it.

•Backstory

  • Tl;dr: Emotionally unstable and easily manipulated teen turns from being an introverted awkward kid into a maniac.

  • His family knew he was trouble when he was born. Like his sister, he was born with a dangerous power but this one was harder to control. His sister’s ability could be prevented with wearing gloves and teaching her to not use her power badly but Flint was like a bomb that could explode by being set off by the tiniest of sparks. He had a short temper and when he lost his temper, he resorted to using flames but his sister taught him how to use his power wisely. His cousin Crystal counterracted his power. Their parents made sure they were very close because of that and soon they were inseparable, always looking out for each other.

He lived a very sheltered and decent childhood. Willow was the reason behind his love of reading, especially with his favourite books which were fantasy including his absolute favourite, 'The Narwhal's Song' which does have sequels and prequels that he has also read. He also enjoyed playing video games as well with his sister, most of them RPG based, others racing and his favourite was one based on his favourite book. He never had to lift a finger in his life because his parents were filthy rich. But he still tried to help around and even got a job but that didn’t happen until he was older.

He was homeschooled until High School age so he didn’t have many friends. To stop that, his father’s business partner, who had a son called Harry, wanted Flint and Harry to be friends. Harry was a jerk and Flint disliked him strongly. But he was the only ‘friend’ he had besides Crystal so he felt they had to be close. It was the worst choice he made. Harry was manipulative and controlled him like a puppet. He often did things to blackmail him. Flint still felt he couldn’t cut him off because of his parents.

He started attending Magnolia High at age eleven with Crystal. His parents felt that they needed to put him in that school because his Aunt is the headmistress so she can keep an eye on him. Willow also was attending which was good for him. Unfortunately, Harry also attended as well and he was stuck being roommates with him. His parents informed him that he was not allowed to use his fire powers in fear of him destroying something. He complied and Harry and Crystal were the only ones who knew. Harry used this against him though as well. Flint didn’t have many friends during his first year. The only friend he made was Crystal’s best friend, Rose. Rose and Crystal were roommates too so naturally they became friends.

He soon settled in well with school life and got used to not using his powers. Until, one trip to the park with Willow. Willow left to go check something out and left Flint at the swings. Suddenly a white van pulled over and people got out of it. He knew they were dangerous so he ran but they chased him and caught up with him. Willow came just in time to save him but she ended up being taken instead and reported missing. After a week of being unable to find her, even when the kidnappers were identified, she was reported dead by them.

He did end up making friends with twins, Alanna and Alan. When Willow was missing and then reported dead, they seemed to say the right things and soon he became close to them. Little did he know, they were just using him for money. It started with the smallest things like ‘forgetting’ their money or ‘not having enough’ for the vending machine. He always gave the money to them, not seeing anything wrong with it because that was his only experience of making a friendship all on his own. Soon it became bigger things like asking him to pay for an expensive dinner or to pay off their credit card debt. It even got to the point where they purposely put sesame seeds in his food, causing an allergic reaction and then calling the ambulance and saying that ‘he owed them’ because they saved his life. Crystal noticed he was being used and confronted him about it but he didn’t listen because ‘that’s how friendships work’ and that she was ‘too naive’ to know.

This continued on for over a year, when he was nearly thirteen. Crystal was sick of seeing her cousin being manipulated like this so she spoke to Alanna and Alan herself and told them to stop before she’d have to bring it up to the headmistress. They attacked her but Flint came at the right moment and stopped them fighting back. But he went too far. All the anger consumed him and he kept going and even almost killed them if Crystal didn’t intervene. He saw it as a betrayal. He was protecting her yet she was stopping him. She told him she knew he couldn’t control his powers and that was evidence of it. She called her mother and he was brought to her office. He was placed in custody - more specifically, a ‘rehabilitation’ centre. The Youth Power Correctional Facility. He’d spend two months there which altered him dramatically.

When he first arrived, the person he met first was Ryley Mills. He’d been there a year before him and seen as ‘top dog’. He had the ability to copy powers and was the most powerful person there and part of the most powerful families. He took him under his wing and taught him how to survive there. ‘Fight or be fought’ and ‘Kill or be killed’ Ryley taught him. Only the strongest would survive there, he said. Flint thought he could depend on Ryley, since on his first day, he was attacked and Ryley protected him. Turned out he was wrong. Ryley would beat him up, ‘teaching him to toughen up’ as he called it. He was awful to Flint and treated him as such but he believed he was doing something correctly. Flint ended up being more rude, sarcastic and resentful to others because of how he acted there and how he had to act to be respected there. These traits never changed and the former Flint was gone. Ryley did train him on how to use his powers and that was the one thing Flint was thankful for, as much as Ryley hurt him. Trained him on defending himself and using his powers. But one day, Ryley told him to try and make a vortex using his fire powers. Flint was uneasy but he let Ryley copy his fire powers and they made an attempt. It backfired, fully. It was too hard for him to control and it spiralled, ending up hitting Flint and burning him. Normally, he’s unable to be burnt by fire but because Ryley was also doing it with him, it was much stronger and more dangerous. He only remembered it blasting into him and then waking up in the infirmary, in a lot of pain. It left permanent burns all over his back. So he never tried to do that again. One of the guards/faculty there was Harry’s uncle. He also recognised that he was the one who helped kidnap Willow. He never helped Flint when he was being beat up, often encouraging it as well. He just wanted to make his life miserable.

The sessions didn’t go well for him. It’s a month for every casualty and the people who were injured had to show up at the session for their month. Which meant, he had to face Alanna and Alan again. He just couldn’t let it go and he was kept in restraints to prevent him from lashing out. He hated seeing them going scot-free and he was stuck there in a prison for something he didn’t start. And most of all, he hated Crystal as well. He hated that she got him in there for defending her. He went through so much pain because of what she did to him.

After two months, he returned. He didn’t realise that his family had adopted another child while he was gone. He felt like he was being ‘replaced’ by his own family. The boy’s name was Ethan and he soon had to get used to him being there. It even got worse that his mother forced him to be by his side the whole week and had to be roommates. Most pain he felt in ages. Somehow, he managed to be friends with him.  He realised they had a lot in common and soon became inseparable.

His first month back in school, it wasn’t awful - for him. Since people knew about his fire powers, they respected him more than they ever did. They respected, or feared him more, once he lashed out on someone for pestering him and used his fire powers on him. He thought he liked the feeling of people fearing him and further solidified the ideology he learnt from the facility that people only liked you when you were strong. So he was ‘strong’. But he didn’t feel strong. He felt awful. He often was mean to people weaker than him. Harry had the most influence on him at this time, telling him what to do and getting him to hurt others for him. Flint hated it but he knew what Harry was telling him to do worked. How could he be betrayed if everyone was afraid to do so.  If it worked at the facility, it would work at school. He still always felt awful about doing this to people but he was stuck in a hole he dug for himself. People would always see him for how he made himself look.

He did end up having some fun times with his friends, unrelated to school. This included going to movies or having lunch at the restaurants and generally having a fun time. His days out of school were the best times of his life.

But he was still not okay mentally. He'd keep having flashbacks and nightmares of his time at the facility. How he used to be powerless there and had to fight to survive every day of his life just to get a sandwich for lunch. Rarely it would be about Willow. And sometimes, it would be a fight with Alanna and Alan. So he tried to stop himself from sleeping, using coffee  and caffeine to keep him awake. It stopped the nightmares happening but not flashbacks but he managed. He picked that trick up from Willow, when she was cramming for exams.

He thought school was going to be better until Ryley enrolled. He was the only one who could rival him. He was stronger, more powerful, taller and ruder but most of all, he scared Flint. Nobody knew who Ryley was except Flint. He always just lurked in the shadows and stayed to himself and that scared Flint because he never knew what he was going to do. Ryley could take him down in a second effortlessly. And Ryley broke him and made him who he was at that moment. But he could do nothing. Ryley was stuck there, sometimes even hurting his group as well.

He was appointed as Head Boy and he gave up trying to change. He couldn’t turn back now and people would never look at him the same. He was stuck as being the ‘bully’ of the school and stuck in a pattern of violence and breaking people down mentally to stay at his status. And he hated it so much but he couldn’t stop. The one that pushed him over the edge was still there to mess with him to make him feel small again.

But the only one who was still there for him was Crystal. Flint had tried to cut her off and treated her awfully everyday of her life for the rest of school. But somehow, she never gave up on him. She kept trying to be close to him and get him to change. For years and years, he pushed her away, unable to forgive her for what she did to him. She hurt him so much and caused him so much pain that he just wanted her to disappear forever. But for some reason, he found that he was unable to hurt her. Anything he’d say to her, she’d just brush it off. Anything he’d do non-physically to her, she wouldn’t care and just move on. He couldn’t dare to even physically hurt her and he didn’t know why. Something just held him back. For things that he’d normally injure somebody for, he couldn’t do that to Crystal. This irked him because she was the only person he couldn’t do anything to. He couldn’t ever find a good enough reason. She kept trying to help him  but he wouldn’t let her.
